Beijing, 10th September 2023 (BISTU)--- Sponsored by China Simulation Federation and co-organized by Robotic System Committee of China Simulation Federation, Shenyang Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, China National Machinery Industry International Co., Ltd. (SINOMACHINT), Beijing Boya Integrated Educational Science and Technology Center, and Zhihui Education, the 16th International Robot and Simulation Technology Competition (formerly known as “International Underwater Robotics Competition”) successfully completed on 2nd September 2023 at Shenyang International Exhibition Center. Three BISTU teams stood out and won a first prize and two second prizes.  

The teams were composed of students from School of Electromechanical Engineering, School of Information Management, and School of Computer Science and supervised by Wang Yongjun, Che Lei, Jiang Fan, and Liu Shucong. During preparations for the Competition, innovative awareness and innovative thinking of students were greatly enhanced. And finally “Intelligent sorting lab” by Huang Weixuan, Wang Guoan, and Weng Huabao (named as Challenge) became a first-prize winner. The other two teams, i.e., Sunshine composed of Zhou Ziyou, Shi Xiulin, Cui Yanyan, and Liang Gaoshan, and Future composed of Ma Zeyu, Fu Mingzhu, and Weng Feiyang, became second-prize winners.  

International Robot and Simulation Technology Competition (formerly known as “International Underwater Robotics Competition”) was sponsored by China Simulation Federation. It is so far the only high end academic subject competition initiated by Chinese universities and attended by higher educational institutions around the world. In 2019, it was included in robotics competition index for Chinese university students by China Association of Higher Education. The 16th Competition attracted over 2000 team from more than 500 universities in China and the finals saw 60 teams from Tsinghua University, University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, BISTU, Harbin Engineering University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Changchun University of Science and Technology, Northeastern University, Tianjin University of Technology, Guangdong University of Technology, etc. as well as online competitors such as Hong Kong University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Taiyuan University of Technology, Space Engineering University, etc.  

Computer application competence and innovative awareness of students, together with their abilities in analyzing problems and providing solutions, were both greatly enhance by the Competition.  

The University has been attaching importance to cultivation of students’ science and technology innovative competence and engineering practice competence. Students were encouraged to attend competitions of various kinds to improve their hands-on skills, innovative competence, and comprehensive qualities.
