Beijing, 3rd May 2025 (BISTU)--- A Thai delegation of 16 teachers and students successfully concluded their two-week exchange program at BISTU on 30th April 2025. The exchange program, featured for “language plus culture plus science and technology”, incorporated class learning, engineering practice, and cultural immersion.

Acquaintance with Chinese: Starting from Hello
Tutored by Chinese teachers of BISTU, Thai students started learning Pinyin and everyday Chinese to be armed with basic language skills in greetings, ordering food, and shopping. “Chinese is not that difficult and it is very interesting to learn”, some students commented. And some hoped to continue learning Chinese in the future, or even find a chance to attend HSK.
Understanding of AI: A window to frontier technologies

BISTU College of Computer Science has specially arranged lectures on artificial intelligence, aiming to broaden students’ horizon in information technology. The lectures covered history, basic principles, and application scenarios of AI and explored the actual application of AI in image recognition and intelligent searching.
The newly added AI lab sessions and robotics workshops have substantially augmented the technological facets of this study tour.
Engineering practice: Experiencing science and technology in College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

The engineering practice arranged for Thai students included both traditional and intelligent manufacturing. With guidance from BISTU faculty, students tried making the logo of Douyin or small spinning top on numerical control machine tools. They learned about intelligent assembly and process control and experienced metro train driving simulator. They were also provided the opportunity of using AI to generate images, build 3D models and then manufacture these models using a 3D printer.

“I am quite surprised to witness a virtual image turning into a model in my hand within a couple of hours! It is magic!”A student said.
Cultural immersion: Scenic spots of culture

In addition to classroom learning and workshops, students joined the cultural tours to landmarks such as the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall, Nanluoguxiang (South Gong and Drum Lane), etc.
The warmth of Chinese culture is further enhanced for Thai students when they learn Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, Chinese knot, Kong-fu, and Tai Chi.
Ending Ceremony: Certificates and harvests

BISTU College of International Education hosted an ending ceremony for all Thai students of the program on 29th April 2025. “I am deeply impressed by your passion and professionalism. And I am grateful for the opportunities you have provided with my students in academic learning and cultural immersion.” The supervising teacher of Thai study group said.
Looking forward: communication for mutual understanding and reciprocal cooperation
Both Chinese and Thai students enjoyed exchanges and communication on the basis of mutual understanding and long-established friendship. Future efforts would be invested to offer study tour groups from other countries an even better environment of learning.
