Beijing, 17th October 2022 (BISTU)—— On celebration of World Standards Day, the finals of the second National College Students Standards Olympiad held both online and via video links successfully completed at China Jiliang University. Five students, i.e., Zhang Yiming, Yao Qingshan, Nie Jiandong, Chen Cheng and Zhao Yicheng­­--- all majoring in Quality Management at School of Economics and Management, won a national third prize with their work “Survey Report on Standardization of Internet Games” (supervised by Wu Zhunan and Cheng Bin). It was the very first time that BISTU students have ever won a national-level prize in competitions on standards.  

Co-sponsored by China Association for Standardization, China Jiliang University and National University League for Standardization, the Olympiad attracted 2,024 students in 356 teams from 85 universities all around China. The preliminary and semi-finals in the past 8 months saw 31 teams entering the finals. The five team members of BISTU showed their innovative spirit, self-challenge, and pursuit of preeminence via their outstanding performances.  

Standardization played a fundamental and guiding role in promoting modernization of state governance system and governance competences. The State has clearly pointed out that team building shall be strengthened for standardization and standardization should be included in general higher education. The National College Students Standards Olympiad, aiming at enhancing talent cultivation quality, was expected to contribute to development of standardization in China.  

The School of Economics and Management has been focusing on integration of ideology, industry, learning, and research. Based on the strengths of the University in information technology, the School aimed at meeting the demand of high quality development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei in talents in respect of standardization. Efforts have been invested in encouraging and organizing students to attend various competitions on academic subjects so as to cultivate their professional qualities and innovative competences.
