Beijing, 18th September 2023 (BISTU)---Application of BISTU for Master of Arts in Translation was approved by Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, according to the notice published by Beijing Municipal Academic Degrees Commission recently.
Following “INSPIRE”--- the school-running philosophy, School of Foreign Studies has been strengthening quality of education in the past years. BA in Translation, based on the strengths of the University in respect of big data and artificial intelligence, has nurtured a large number of high level interdisciplinary talents of applied learning with global horizon. The School owned a number of computer-aid translation platforms and established field practice bases in various companies specializing in lingual services and translation technologies. Approval of MA in Translation served as a milestone for the School in academic discipline construction, i.e., School of Foreign Studies now could offer master programs.
The newly-approved MA in Translation would be listed in admissions catalogue of 2023, indicating that all BISTU schools now could offer programs on postgraduate level. As of today, the University offers doctoral programs in one first-tier academic discipline and master programs in 13 first-tier academic disciplines, in addition to 7 professional master degrees. These engineering-based postgraduate programs cover the area of engineering, management, science, economics, liberal arts, and law.
Work concerning academic degrees at BISTU were now centering on approval of doctoral programs with equal focus on strengthening academic disciplines of information technology, developing emerging interdisciplinary academic programs, and highlighting our strengths and features in information technology and industries. BISTU now is striding towards the goal of building a high level university of applied learning with distinctive feature in information technology.
