Beijing, 26th October 2023 (BISTU)--- President Guo Fu met with Illinois Institute of Technology delegation headed by Vice President Mallik Sundharam on 26th October 2023 at Taihanglu Campus.

On behalf of the University, Guo Fu extended warmest welcome to the delegation and offered an introduction to BISTU in respect of academic backgrounds, school-running orientation, talent cultivation, academic disciplines and academic programs with focus on features in information technology. Guo Fu expressed that Illinois Institute of Technology was one of the outstanding research-oriented universities. BISTU and Illinois Institute of Technology found common features in quite a number of areas: both are engineering-focused with innovated ideas; both are keeping pace with times and dedicated to serving social economic development and megacity governance; and both have renowned pioneering professors in computer science. It laid solid foundation for future cooperation. He hoped that the two institutions would start communication and cooperation in talent cultivation and academic exchange and then strengthen cooperation to achieve mutual development and academic interconnectivity.

Vice President Mallik Sundharam expressed thanks for the warm reception and expressed that Illinois Institute of Technology looked forward to working together with BISTU. Following his introduction to the Institute in respect of historical development, school-running principles, development of faculties, and achievements in talent cultivation, he specially explained Accelerated Master’s Program and global service office. He hoped to strengthen communication and exchange, share experiences in teaching and talent cultivation, and explore cooperation in more areas and on higher levels.

Dean Kevin W. Cassel of Armour College of Engineering introduced the College and its academic strengths. He would explore possible areas of cooperation and confirm what areas to start in a timely manner. Kevin said.

On the seminar followed, Vice President Xiao Zhisong expressed that there was a bright future for cooperation between BISTU and Illinois Institute of Technology. BISTU is confident with the future fruitful cooperation and would like to conduct joint-education programs, faculty exchange, joint-research programs with Illinois Institute of Technology. Faculties and students of the Institute are also welcome to visit BISTU to strengthened mutual exchange and communication.

Discussions were conducted on Sino-foreign joint programs on undergraduate level, faculty visit, student exchange, and joint research. Consensus was reached on signing memorandum of understanding.

The meeting and discussions were attended by Kevin Xu, China Program Officer of Office of Global Services at Illinois Institute of Technology and Deputy Director Ji Lili of BISTU Academic Affairs Office, Deputy Director Hu Zhangyu of International Cooperation Department (Vice Dean of BISTU School of International Education), Vice Dean Li Qiguang of Electromechanical Engineering School, Vice Dean Chen Wenbai of Automation School, and Vice Dean Hou Xia of Computer Science School.
