President Wang Yongsheng Visited Four Universities and Government Sectors of France and Italy

Beijing, 6th June, 2016(BISTU)--- BISTU delegation led by President Wang Yongsheng, upon invitation of Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma of Italy (UNINT), Università degli studi di ROMA "Tor Vergata" , Education and College Research Department of Italian Ministry of Education, L'Institut des Études d'Administration et de Management (IEAM), and Paris West University Nanterre La Défense, paid visit to and signed agreements with these institutions and government sectors. It is the first time that BISTU has established inter-school relations with Italian universities.  

Prof. Francisco Matte Bon, Rector of Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma, welcomed BISTU delegation in Rome and introduced history development and education features of the University. Following a brief introduction to BISTU, Wang Yongsheng expressed that BISTU would like to expand and extend international education. Board member of UNINT Fabio Bisogni, together with faculties of economics and foreign languages, introduced enrollment and employment of students at the University who tops most of its peers in terms of employment rate of graduating students. The two institutions agreed that starting area of future cooperation would be luxury brand management and manufacturing and development of emerging markets. The “craftsmanship” in the process of manufacturing luxurious products is what BISTU expected to learn and understand. Meanwhile, BISTU welcomes Italian students to attend short and long term programs in Chinese and English. The two presidents signed cooperative agreement on behalf of their institutions, which makes Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma the very first Italian university with whom BISTU formally cooperates.  

Deputy Director-general Giuseppe Marucci of Education and College Research Department of Italian Ministry of Education met with BISTU delegation and shared Italian governmental planning on working together with China in the respect of big data and smart city. He also offered information of biding projects in big data in Italy and EU and hoped that BISTU would join in the bid to meet extensive demand of Italy. Wang Yongsheng introduced structure and achievements of research at BISTU and vision of BISTU education. Mr. Marucci happily accepted the invitation to visit BISTU extended by Wang Yongsheng on behalf of the University.  

Università degli studi di ROMA "Tor Vergata" welcomed the delegation. Ms. Sabato Valentia, Secretary General of International Cooperation of the University made an introduction to the institution. Currently the University has around 40 thousand students in 19 departments studying bachelor, master, and doctoral programs. Currently there are 475 international students studying with the University. Duration of studies is mainly in the form of 3 plus 2, i.e., three years for bachelor degrees and two more years for master degrees. Discussion between the two institutions focused on faculty visit, exchange of undergraduates and postgraduates, staff development of young faculties, etc. Dean Wang Jiuhe of School of Automation signed MoU with Information Engineering Department of Università degli studi di ROMA "Tor Vergata" aiming at promoting all-around collaboration between the two universities.   

Ms. Han, on behalf of Paris West University Nanterre La Défense, met with the delegation and introduced the university. Formerly called Paris X Nanterre, Paris West University Nanterre La Défense is one of the most prestigious French universities, mainly in the areas of law, humanities, political science, social sciences and economics. With its 35000 students, the University is the 3rd largest institution of France. Students are offered a number of opportunities in that the University has established collaborative relations with quite a few world famous enterprises. And it also has increased the number of modules delivered in English. Meanwhile, about 50 students would be selected to attend short-term exchange programs in China. Ms. Han specially introduced French government’s rules and procedure in employment of professors and administrative staff at public institutions and practices at Paris West University Nanterre La Défense. Wang Yongsheng expressed that teaching and management at Paris West University Nanterre La Défense posed reference signification for BISTU. The two institutions reached agreement on faculties and students exchange and started to prepare for inter-university cooperation.  

 

President Patrick Dambron of L'Institut des Études d'Administration et de Management (IEAM) Paris and Executive President Dr. Wu met with the delegation. The President mentioned that still vivid in his memory is the MoU signed at BISTU two years ago and he is very happy to welcome long-established friends. Dr. Wu introduced enrollment and education of undergraduates and postgraduates, faculties exchange, and training of civil servants at IEAM. Wang Yongsheng expressed thanks for the warm reception and mentioned that the Silk Road project of IEAM is capable of meeting the demand of the Belt and Road Initiative of China. BISTU’s strengths in big data, smart manufacturing and control, and knowledge economic management and information management under the background of information era would be of great help in implementing the cooperation. Both universities agreed that extensive collaboration is to be conducted in information and smart manufacturing, which would be a perfect start to explore international joint education. Explorations were also conducted on collaboration in the area of smart education and smart city construction. And on behalf of BISTU, Wang Yongsheng signed MoU and cooperative agreement on Silk Road project.  

The delegation members are Prof. Wang Jiuhe, Executive Dean of Postgraduate School and Dean of Automation School, Prof. Ge Xinquan, Dean of Economics and Management School, and Dr. Lu Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department.
