The march-in ceremony formally started with March of the Athletes. National flag was held high, followed by university flag and emblem formation. The Pegasus formation displayed a perfect combination of the elegance and power of equestrian sport. Formations of flowers, judges, BISTU colleges, and BISTU alumni, with their respective innovative presentation, showed the spirit of diligence, honor, solidarity, and perseverance of BISTUers.

The flag-raising ceremony was solemn and dignified. All teachers and students stood in silence, singing the national anthem as the national flag rose slowly over the sports ground.

Xie Jiangling announced the opening of BISTU 2026 Spring Sports Meeting.

Guo Fu addressed the opening ceremony. Following warm greetings to all athletes, Guo Fu said that the University firmly implemented the basic task of fostering virtue through education. The past year saw the University win 51 medals in sports games and successful organization of the 63rd Track and Field Games for Capital Universities. The atmosphere where every student and faculty enjoys sports is becoming increasingly stronger. It is a milestone jointly built by all BISTUers. He pointed out that the Sports Games would enable “sport for pleasure” to brighten the school day – getting students out of breath and alight with enthusiasm, fit and fired up for the nation's socialist endeavor. He then wished the Games every success.

Du Jiayang, representative of athletes (a student of Business School and a core player of the university’s women volleyball team), took a solemn oath to abide by the rules and compete with tenacity. Dai Shimeng, referee representative (world Sanda champion and Physical Education Department teacher), pledged to officiate impartially and ensure the smooth running of the competition.

The wonderful cultural and sports performance after the opening ceremony, which integrated traditional culture, modern information technology, and exciting sports performances, showcased the unique charm of Chinese culture and the uplifting spirit of all teachers and students.

BISTU has been promoting reform of PE education and constantly enhancing services and facilities provided with students in physical exercises. A five-in-one pattern, i.e., the combination of class teaching, extracurricular exercises, physical fitness tests, competitions and games, and cultural immersion, has been established.

The event was joined by all BISTU senior administrators, directors of BISTU departments and offices, chairpersons and deans of BISTU colleges, and representatives of faculty and students.
