Beijing, 9th July 2026 (BISTU)--- The explanatory session for 2026 "Data Element X" Competition Beijing Sub-contest: Green and Low-Carbon Track and Modern Agriculture Track was successfully held at BISTU on 9th July 2026. The Competition, themed on “Data empowerment, multiplier effect”, attracted teams from companies, universities and colleges, research institutes, and so on.

The Event greeted Deputy Director Peng Xuehai of Beijing Municipal Administration of Government Services and Data Management, Vice Mayor Su Dalin of Changping District, Chair Person Xie Jiangling of BISTU University Council, Vice President Zhang Jian of BISTU, Vice President Zhang Jinbai of Beijing University of Agriculture, Director Zhao Xiangyu of Market and Information Division of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agricultural and Rural Affairs, and Director Li Lina of Science and International Office of Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau.

Xie Jiangling extended warm welcome to attendees. He expressed that BISTU had a complete set of academic disciplines and strong strengths in information technology. Academic discipline patterns, research platforms and resources for regional development all showed high alignment with the two tracks of the Competition. In agricultural area, BISTU and Beijing University of Agriculture jointly built a “digital technology plus agricultural industry” pattern. Based on core technologies such as internet of things and intellisense, the two universities have made rapid progress in intelligent agriculture. In green and low-carbon area, BISTU worked closely together with China University of Petroleum and North China Electric Power University in “dual carbon” digitalization and intelligent energy management and control. BISTU would seize opportunities in the Competition to deepen university-local government coordination and industry-education fusion to make BISTU-marked contributions to sustainable development of Beijing and agricultural and rural modernization. Xie Jiangling said.

Peng Xuehai expressed that Beijing’s advantages in data, science and technology, talent reserve, market, and ecology would be brought into full play in fostering data elements development, empowering real economy, and facilitating new-quality productive forces. He pointed out that “Beijing Sub-contest: Green and Low-Carbon Track and Modern Agriculture Track” aimed to test contestants’ competence in producing viable solutions to real-life problems and exploring application scenarios of high-value data elements.

Su Dalin pointe out that Changping District was an important zone in building Beijing into an international center for science and technology innovation. It is the youngest “future city” with great vitality. It was expected that “multiplier effect” of the Competition would serve to construct a number of model projects in green and low-carbon and modern agriculture area.

Director Jin Xin of Administrative Services and Data Management Bureau of Changping District announced the scheme for Green and Low-Carbon Track and Modern Agriculture Track. Motivational measures would be offered by Changping District in typical cases identification, recommendation of application scenarios, policy support, general services, and finding potential partners for contestant institutions. Jin said.

Data Element X Competition is the very first nation-wide competition on development and application of data elements. It is an important pathway to motivate data element innovation and empower digital economy. BISTU would seize this opportunity to promote school-local government integration and explore an innovative mechanism of research and application for coordination among local governments, enterprises, and universities.

The event was also attended by Deputy Director Liu Yubin of Administrative Services and Data Management Bureau of Fengtai District, Vice Dean Zhu Dandan of College of Artificial Intelligence of China University of Petroleum, Deputy Director Dong Hongwei of Technology Transfer Center of North China Electric Power University, and members of organizing committee of the Competition.
