BISTU Signed Agreement with Beijing Academy of Science and Technology

Beijing, 3rd June 2025 (BISTU)--- Chairperson Xie Jiangling of the University Council and President Guo Fu visited Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (BJAST) on 3rd June 2025 and met with Chairperson Liu Hui and President Wu Jianmin of the Academy. The two institutions signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

Xie Jiangling expressed that BISTU and BJAST enjoyed a great potential of cooperation in providing service to building Beijing into an international center of science and technology innovation, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, etc. It was expected that the two institutions would construct a new pattern of cooperation and work together to better serve social and economic development of Beijing and China. Xie added.

Guo Fu said that BISTU aims to build a high-level university with distinctive feature in information technology. Over 80% of the disciplines and majors in the university are highly related to the field of information technology. Five major areas of strengths have been formed at the University, i.e., intellisense, intelligent control, intelligent equipment, intelligent computing, and intelligent decision-making. He pointed out that the two institutions shall center on industry-education integration and science-technology-education integration and jointly establish labs and innovation platforms for mutual development.

Liu Hui expressed that both institutions would extend and deepen the strategic cooperative relationship to promote industry-education integration and science-technology-education integration. There are four areas of cooperation to consider: joint research based on strengths of the University and the Academy; joint cultivation of talents inclusive of undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students; commercialization of research findings; and establishment of a sustained system for regular communication and execution.

Wu Jianmin pointed out that major research areas of BJAST are in high alignment with those of BISTU, indicating important implications for extension of the agreement of strategic cooperation. He added that the new agreement would bring strengths of both institutions into full play. He is confident that progresses would be achieved in jointly building innovation platforms for science and technology, co-establishment of labs, building think-tanks, strengthening international communication in science and technology, etc. New momentum would be brought into high-quality development of Beijing. He said.

Detailed discussions were then held among directors of BJAST institutes and departments and directors and deans of BISTU Graduate School, Department of International Affairs, College of Automation, Business School, etc.

Witnessed by Xie Jiangling and Liu Hui, Guo Fu and Wu Jianmin signed the agreement of strategic cooperation between the two institutions.

The meeting and discussions were attended by Vice President Chen Xin of BISTU, Vice President Shao Jinwen of BJAST, directors of BJAST institutes and departments, and directors and deans of the President’s Office of BISTU, Department of Research, Graduate School, Department of International Affairs, College of Automation, College of Computer Science, and Business School.
