Beijing, 8th June 2025 (BISTU)--- Student Representatives’ Briefing Session for 2024-2025 successfully concluded on 6th June 2025 at Shahe Campus. The Session was chaired by President Guo Fu and attended by Vice President Wang Xingfen, Vice President Xiao Zhisong, Vice President He Wei, and directors and deans of Department of Academic Affairs, Graduate School, Department of Student Affairs, Department of International Affairs, and Department of Facilities and Maintenance Management.

Director Liang Xu of Department of Academic Affairs explained practices and innovative measures in reform of talent cultivation and teaching. Executive Vice Dean Zhou Zhehai of Graduate School briefed reform and practices of postgraduate education in four aspects, i.e., accomplishments, on-going efforts, upcoming priorities, and action plans. Director Zhang Jingbo of Student Affairs Department illustrated measures of the Department in supporting growth of the students. Director Li Zhuo of Department of International Affairs delivered a report titled “Fostering global competencies through international education”, offering a full explanation of educational globalization at the University in respect of objectives and vision, actions and achievements, missions and plans, and future suggestions of international education. Director Li Xiangzhi of Department of Facilities and Maintenance Management produced a systematic introduction to important measures, achievements and future plans of the University in logistic management.

Via scanning QR code, students joined the discussions, proposed their suggestions on educational management, seamless undergraduate-to-doctoral education, services concerning learning and living on campus, etc., and received satisfactory answers on the spot.

Wang Xingfen commented that the University holds onto the principle of “tolerating differences, cherishing diversity, and fostering originality” and will offer sound service with growth of students. She encouraged students to participate in various activities in a proactive manner to explore their potentials. Xiao Zhisong suggested that students consider seamless undergraduate-to-doctoral education when making their plans. He added that it is necessary to actively join international programs to broaden global horizon and enhance cross-cultural communication capabilities. He Wei said that students shall focus on practices, make career planning in advance, pay attention to psychological health and development to meet with challenges actively and courageously, and enhance professional qualities.

Guo Fu pointed out that the Session, as an extension of “the President’s Cafe”, is an important part of educational discussions. In the form of “special press conference”, the session saw heads of relating departments and schools as spokespersons. Platform of communication is built, information is conveyed accurately, and information barrier has been broken. He stressed that a long-term faculty-student communication mechanism shall be established to ensure full attention to student appeals. He encouraged students to cultivate proactive information-seeking behaviors and systematically expand their academic resource networks. It is necessary to strengthen two-way interaction between the University and students. Guo Fu added.

The session has successfully built a bridge of dialogue between faculty and students and provided solutions to students’ questions and requirements in a timely manner. It brings more warmth to communication, adds depths to education, and enhances campus vitality.
