Beijing, 24th April 2025 (BISTU)--- Shahe campus of BISTU came alive with energy and enthusiasm as students and faculty gathered for the 2025 Spring Sports Game held on 24th April 2025. The day began with a grand opening ceremony hosted by Vice President Wang Xingfen and attended by Chairperson Xie Jiangling of the University Council, President Guo Fu, all other senior administrators, and directors and deans of BISTU departments and colleges.

The opening ceremony began with the lively Athletes' March, followed by neat marching formations of national flag, university flag and university emblem, BISTU Rabbit (the University Mascot), flowers, referees, college faculty, alumni, etc., showcasing fierce competition, teamwork, and school pride.

At the solemn flag-raising ceremony, the entire assembly stood in reverence, singing the national anthem in unison as the national flag ascended against the morning sky above the sports ground.

Xie Jiangling announced the opening of the 2025 Spring Sports Game.

Guo Fu addressed the opening ceremony. Sports are a contest of strengths, a competition of wisdom, and a bond of friendship. They are also practices of boundless cultural exchange and communication. BISTU campus will greet over 2,000 students and teachers from 80 universities for the 63rd Capital Universities Athletics Championships in a month. It is a live practice for building a Year-round University and a campus of warmth, vitality and calmness. “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”He called for all athletes to harness the power of sportsmanship to fuel our collective progress. This Game is to be a characteristic, vibrant game of love, civilization and friendship. He added.

Guo Haotian, a student (of College of Instrument Science and Opto-electronics Engineering) who has won four gold medals on capital universities sports games with two record-breaking achievements, made a solemn oath to respect rules and to compete courageously. Xu Lili, a former world champion of Judo and a representative of referees, promised that they will act in a fair manner for all athletes.

The opening ceremony is followed by performances from dance and cheerleading squads.

Recent years have witnessed efforts of the University invested in all-round education. Active measures have been taken for reform of physical education modules. With information technology empowering physical education, a new model containing “health knowledge plus basic athletic skills plus specialized athletic skills” has been formed.

Embracing the Olympic values “Faster, Higher, Stronger - Together”, our academic community will develop perseverance through athletic pursuits and foster solidarity through teamwork, thereby enhancing our campus's sports and cultural atmosphere to contribute to building a high-level university with distinctive feature in information technology.
