The College of Instrument Science and Opto-electronics Engineering contains two undergraduate programs, which are Measuring & Control Technology & Instrument and Optical Information Science & Technology. The College has Instrument Science & Technology and Optical Engineering as 1st level disciplines conferring master degrees and two 2nd level disciplines conferring master degrees, including Measuring &Testing Technology & Instruments and Precision Instruments & Machinery. The College also confers professional master degrees in Instrument & Meter Engineering.

The College enjoys a faculty team with high professional qualities and profound teaching experience. The School has 9 full professors, 1 double-recruited academician from the China Academy of Engineering, 2 government-subsidized experts, 1 Special Professor of Beijing Municipality, 1 High-level Oversea Talent and 2 doctoral supervisors.

The research institutes of the College include the Beijing Opto-electronic Information and Instrument Engineering Research Center, the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education – Laboratory of Modern Measuring & Control Technology, the Key Laboratory of Beijing Municipality – Laboratory of Electromechanical System Measurement & Control (co-owned by the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering School ), the Key Laboratory of Machinery Industry – the Laboratory of Modern Opto-electronic Measuring & Testing Technology, the Experimental Center of Opto-electronic Measuring & Testing Technology and laboratories for measuring & control technology & instrument, optical information science & technology, contemporary electronic technology, etc.

The College has established academic cooperation with universities in the United States, Japan and Russia, etc. Joint programs of various sorts, such as “2+2”joint undergraduate program with Oakland University of the United States, are carried out by the School.
