BISTU Students Make Outstanding Achievements in Datang Cup Mobile Telecommunications Technology Competition

Beijing, 15th October 2018 (BISTU)— The final of the 5th Datang Cup National Competition on Mobile Telecommunications Technology held in North China University of Technology witnessed outstanding performances of BISTU contestants from School of Information and Communication Engineering who have won four second prizes and eight third prizes. The Competition accommodates 4,700 contestants from universities of the whole country, including Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Munzu University of China, Central South University, Shanghai Maritime University, etc.

Datang Cup National Competition on Mobile Telecommunications Technology, as one of the few competitions in information and communication technology, is a key competition that BISTU students attend each year. It is jointly sponsored and organized by BISTU and Datang Telecommunications and now has become an innovative national academic competition attracting students from all over the country.

With development of information and telecommunication technology, the Competition has been constantly updated. Based on original sections like communication principles, mobile communication technology, and wireless test of mobile communication, new content has been added including technological principle of TD-LTE/VoLTE, technological principle of NB-IOT and 5G, network equipment and test of TD-LTE, network planning and optimization of TD-LTE, etc.  

The past five years have witnessed the number of BISTU contestants rising from a score of students in the first competition to 140 contestants this year. And an increasing number of awards have been won by BISTU students. In this process, students not only have learned up to date knowledge in mobile communication field but also gained new experiences in solving complicated engineering issues while optimizing network and practicing equipment operations. It is a good experience for their future employment.

In addition to students from three majors of School of Information and Communication Engineering, students from two other majors at School of Computer Science, i.e., Computer Science and Technology and Network Engineering, also attend the Competition. In Beijing competition division, students from School of Computer Science win two first prizes. Students from School of Information and Communication Engineering are honored with 6 first prizes, 20 second prizes, and 36 third prizes. First and second prize winners are recommended to attend national competition.  

Datang Cup National Competition on Mobile Telecommunications Technology in the past five years has attracted an increasing number of contestants, annually updated competition content based on development of information and communication industry, and been increasingly widely recognized and accepted in the field of information and communication technology. It offers opportunity not only for students to learn more about engineering practice but also for universities to communicate with each other. All contestants are provided actual interviews for job-hunting so as to safeguard supply of quality talents for development of information and communication industry.
