Beijing, 25th May 2018 (BISTU)— The bright sunshine of May, together with green grass and flourishing blossoms, welcomes opening ceremony of the Second BISTU International Cultural Week & International Cultural Exhibition held at Xiaoying Campus on 23rd May. As an important part of BISTU The Second Art and Culture Festival, the event is attended by Vice President Wang Xiuyan, Director Guo Yinhui of Students’ Affairs Office, Wang Xingfen, Director of Academic Affairs’ Office and Dean of International Education School and international students from all over the world.
Scores of international students show their fluent Chinese to express their love and gratitude towards BISTU. Group performances plus enthusiastic dances by students from Kazakhstan win warm applauses of audiences. International students’ representative expresses his thanks to the University and says that BISTU has become a home away from home for all students.
In addition to spectacular dancing and singing performances, the ceremony also sets a number of lucky-draw activities. Over 50 international students from 16 countries also design cultural exhibition boards, prepare various delicious food, and wear their traditional dresses. Very impressive are the stalls with delicate handcrafts, Baileys from Ireland, traditional pitch-pot game of Korea, Turkey tour guide with very informative details, and joyous Kazakhstan dance.
International Culture Week, hosted by School of International Education, commences on 21st May and will end on 25th May. Themed on “Cultures build bridge connecting us”, the International Culture Week is featured for a series of activities like Chinese contest, cultural exhibition, exhibition of calligraphy and photography, and open day of the School. It aims at presenting a show of cultures from all over the world for all BISTU students.
