BISTU Holds Competition for Faculty Singers

Beijing, 25th May 2018 (BISTU)— The beautiful tune of May sings high about the spirit of diligence and honor at BISTU. The final of Competition for Faculty Singers successfully completes at Xiaoying Campus on the afternoon of 23rd May. The event is attended by Vice President Wang Xiuyan and organized by BISTU Workers’ Union and Faculty Vocal Music Appreciation Association.

Red Boat Setting Sail, a song with lyrics written by Chairman Wang Chuanliang of University Council, initiates the whole event. The beautiful and meaningful lyrics and stylish melody illustrates the origin of Chinese revolution: red boat spirit. Spectators are brought back to the year 1921 when Communist Party of China held its very first national congress and declared official foundation of Chinese Communist Party.

After fierce competition in preliminary section, 19 songs are qualified for the final. A visual audio feast then is produced by over 50 faculties and staff who have made serious preparations for the Competition. Various forms of singing has been performed by the faculties and staff, including solo, duet, chorus, etc. The contestants sing high praise for our motherland and the happy life they are enjoying. “Keeping Beginners’ Mind” performed by BISTU Faculty Chorus and Retired Faculty Chorus shows determination and confidence of BISTU faculties and staff in fighting for even brighter future.

Five professional judges work very seriously and decide the honors of first, second and third prizes. The first prizes is awarded to Administration faculties, School of Media and Public Administration, and School of Electromechanical Engineering. Awards for excellence in organization are granted to Administration faculties, School of Media and Public Administration, and School of Electromechanical Engineering, teaching support sectors, School of Information and Communication Engineering, and Department of PE.

The Competition of Faculty Singers is sufficient in both ideological education and artistic spirit. It offers a platform for all BISTU faculties and staff to show their talents and display their individuality. It also serves as an important tool in building healthy, elegant, harmonious campus atmosphere and construction of humanitarian emotion environment.
