Beijing, 24th October 2018 (BISTU)— Vice President Chen Gang meets with Mid Sweden University (MSU) delegation headed by Cathrine Gladh, Responsible of International Cooperation of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media of MSU. Both institutions discuss concrete cooperative issues in respect of talent cultivation, faculty exchange, academic research collaboration, etc.
Following his warm welcome to MSU delegation, Chen Gang points out that solid foundation has been established in undergraduate and postgraduate exchange programs and faculty exchange since the two institutions sign collaboration agreement in 2009. Ideas and layout of academic disciplines of both institutions find high-degree resemblance with each other. New areas of cooperation will be explored based on consolidation of existing projects. Advancement of collaboration partnership with MSU helps a lot to in joint academic programs between two institutions, broadening students’ international horizon, and enhancing students’ creativity and leadership competence. Regarding application for approval of doctoral programs at BISTU, faculty visit and joint doctoral programs between two institutions would also play an important role. BISTU will actively explore new modes of cooperation in more academic fields for mutual benefits.
Gladh expresses that students sent by BISTU to MSU show extremely high degree of learning enthusiasm and excellent comprehensive quality. New sparks flash in their communication with faculties and students of MSU. Some BISTU students also choose to do doctoral programs at MSU, which not only adds fresh research strengths to MSU but also brings along new vitality to campus. She looks forward to cooperation in a broader scope.
Suggestions on future cooperation are proposed by Dean Zhang Jian of School of Economics and Management, Executive Vice Dean Cao Lin of School of Information and Communication Engineering and Vice Dean Chen Wenbai of School of Automation. Both institutions conduct negotiation on collaborative projects to be implemented and reach consensus on future cooperation: expanding scope of undergraduate and postgraduate students’ exchange, achieving breakthrough in joint doctoral programs, implementation of faculty visit program, and making preparations for construction of international research platform, collaborative academic research, and publication of journals with international influence.
MSU delegation hosts an explanation seminar for students and offers detailed introduction to entry requirements, optional modules, and credit transfer. Also they answer questions raised by students on life and learning in Sweden.
MSU delegation members include Prof. Zhang Tingting of Department of Information Systems and Technology, Dr. Maria Bogren of Department of Business, Economics and Law, and staff members of international office. The meeting and seminar are also attended by Dr. Lu Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department.
