Beijing, 25th September 2018 (BISTU)— Conference on self-appraisal of first tier degree program Machinery Engineering and professional degree program in Machinery Engineering and Vehicle Engineering successful completes at Xiaoying Campus.
The self-appraisal expert group is headed by Academician Tan Jianrong (also a member of Academic Degree Commission of State Council) from Zhejiang University. The experts include Prof. Fan Xun from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Prof. Chu Fulei (winner of Tsinghua University Outstanding Young Scholar Funding) from Tsinghua University, Prof. Yu Jingjun from Beihang University, and Prof. Zhang Chunlin from Beijing Institute of Technology. The meeting is attended by President Wang Yongsheng, deans of School of Electromechanical Engineering, department chairs of the Schoolx and representatives of young faculties and is hosted by Prof. Wang Jiuhe, Executive Vice Dean of Postgraduate School.
President Wang Yongsheng addresses the meeting and extends thanks to all experts for their care and support with development of the academic discipline Machinery Engineering at BISTU. Following a brief introduction to BISTU in respect of history, features and development prospects, he expresses that the University attaches great importance to construction and development of Machinery Engineering as a first tier academic discipline. It is sincerely hoped that valuable suggestions would be produced so as to enhance construction of this discipline at BISTU.
Detailed reports are respectively delivered by Prof. Huang Min, Dean of School of Electromechanical Engineering and academic leader of the first tier discipline Machinery Engineering, Prof. Wang Hongjun, Vice Dean of School of Electromechanical Engineering and Academic leader of professional degree program in Machinery Engineering, and Prof. Chen Yong, Academic leader of professional degree program Vehicle Engineering. Experts review their reports and relating materials and then conduct discussions and questioning. They reach the agreement that these degree programs are accurate in research pathways, evident in academic strength, and salient in features. They unanimously agree that the programs have passed the self-appraisal.
Prof. Tan Jianrong offers some valuable suggestions on development of the first tier academic discipline Machinery Engineering. He points out that the discipline is now on a track of fast development and it is necessary to get involved in more advanced projects and make breakthroughs in symbolic projects. On behalf of the School of Electromechanical Engineering, Huang Min extends sincere gratitude to all experts for their guidance and help. He says that “diagnostic” self-appraisal helps clarify academic pathways. The School will follow the suggestions, make thorough future plans, and perfect academic discipline construction in the School. Questions and problems will be identified and will be offered appropriate solutions. The appraisal is aimed at perfection of talent cultivation system and enhancement of Postgraduate education quality.
