Beijing, 20th October, 2017 (BISTU)—BISTU student Liu Kaiyuan, with the project “Sword on Ice Mountains---trans-platform multilevel three-dimensional programming software”, wins a bronze medal on the 3rd China Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students themed on “Facing with new era of Internet plus and join the team of innovation and entrepreneurship”.
The project is supervised by Li Jianliang, faculty of School of Economics and Management. BISTU is the only institution among universities supervised by Beijing Municipality who has won a bronze medal of state-level on the Internet Plus contest. Other universities in Beijing who have won awards in this Contest are projects made by students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Beihang University.
In addition, BISTU entrepreneurship teams have also won 3 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 9 third prizes in selection competition of Internet Plus Contest in Beijing. BISTU has won 24 awards of ministerial level or above in China Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students so far.
The 3rd China Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students is co-sponsored by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Science, and Chinese Academy of Engineering. It gathers 370 thousand projects from 2241 universities all over China. Over 1.5 million college students directly participate in the Contest and around 800 investment institutions and enterprises offer support with the Contest. It has become a substantial platform for higher educational institutions to display their achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship and has substantial implications for education of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as promotion of reform on education in universities.
BISTU organizes preparatory selection competition during April to June. And finally 14 teams are selected from 82 teams. The project “Sword on Ice Mountains---trans-platform multilevel three-dimensional programming software”, together with other 19 projects from other universities supervised by Beijing Municipality, attends the final of the 3rd China Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students.
BISTU attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education of college students and has proposed the principle of “nurturing quality talents of applied learning with relatively strong practical competence, innovation awareness, and global awareness”. Focus on smart manufacturing, robot studies, information security, and big data, the University explores how to enhance students’ innovative spirit, entrepreneurial awareness, and competence in innovation and entrepreneurship. A three-in-one education system has been established to integrate teaching, innovative practice, and incubation of projects. The University will continue to advance education of innovation and entrepreneurship so as to construct broader platforms for growth of students.
