Chen Gang Meets with Oakland University Delegation

Beijing, 8th September, 2017 (BISTU)--- BISTU and Oakland University explore issues regarding existing cooperation projects and international education projects at BISTU on the meeting between BISTU Vice President Chen Gang and Vice Dean Zou Qian of School of Engineering and Computer Science of Oakland University. 

On behalf of the University, Chen Gang extends warmest welcome to Oakland delegation and sincere thanks to OU for their effort and great contribution to cooperation projects between the two institutions. Chen Gang points out that Oakland University is one of the closest partners of BISTU and cooperation is happy and effective. The School of Engineering and Computer Science has produced wonderful conditions for BISTU students’ learning and life there, which helps greatly with their academic advancement. He hopes that two institutions could strengthen cooperation in research and explore possibility of co-constructing labs and co-research.  Chen Gang also introduces Programme of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities” (111 Project) and invites experts and professor of Oakland University to the Base. With positive comments on achievements in cooperation and outstanding performance of BISTU students at Oakland University, Zou Qian points out that cooperation between the two institutions is going very well and large-scale project will be conducted in faculty training and exchange. Highly efficient, convenient service will be provided with BISTU faculties and students at Oakland University and the School will try best to coordinate all resources available. Says Zou Qian.  

Cooperative discussion is hosted by Dr. Lu Jing, Director of BISTU International Cooperation Department. Deputy Director Lv Yong of Academic Affairs Office introduces BISTU plan of international education project. Both institutions exchange ideas on Beijing municipal external education projects and 2+2 bachelor’s degree projects. Wang Hongjun, Vice Dean of School of Electromechanical Engineering produces specific suggestions for course mapping issues regarding Oakland University students studying with BISTU. 

In order to make external education project students better informed of Oakland University and entry requirements, the Delegation meets with all fresh students of the external education project and answers their various questions regarding life and learning at Oakland University.  

The delegation members include Yang Lianxiang, BISTU specially appointed professor and full professor of School of Engineering and Computer Science and Gary Barber, full professor of School of Engineering and Computer Science. And the meeting is also attended by Vice Dean Zhang Wei of School of Computer Science of BISTU and Vice Dean Zhou Zhehai of School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering.
