Beijing, 8th August 2017 (BISTU)--- BISTU is successfully selected for the list of “Programme of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities” (111 Project), as is shown in the official list published by State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs and Ministry of Education officially. It is the first time that BISTU has been included in this Project. And BISTU, with its “Advanced Opto-electronic Instrumentation and System Innovation Base”, is the only university among those under Beijing municipal supervision. Altogether 21 universities supervised by municipalities or provinces are approved to join the list.
“Programme of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities” (111 Project) aims at advancing construction of world leading universities in China. This Project, initiated by State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs and Ministry of Education in 2016, is based on national key disciplines and focuses on international academic frontiers. It will introduce 1000 talents from world top 100 universities and institutes to 100 world leading discipline innovation bases in China. Funding duration of each base is five years with annual funding no less than 1.8 million RMB Yuan.
The Project originally only covers universities of 211 Project and 985 Project under supervision of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and Chinese Academic of Science. In 2016 it firstly includes universities under supervision of municipalities and provinces and 15 universities are selected.According to BISTU International Cooperation Department, 111 Project opens the gate for universities under supervision of municipalities and provinces. It will for sure, with abundant funding, promote talent introduction to these universities and help partially fill the gap among universities supervised by different governments or governmental sectors.
