Beijing, 31st July, 2017 (BISTU)--- The 21st Robocup World Cup Robot Contest, held July 26th to July 30th 2017 in Nagoya of Japan, witnesses the fifth championship crowned with Water, the BISTU robot football team who finally triumphs over the opponent TU team of Eindhoven University of Technology with 6:3 in Robocup Middle-size Soccer League.
The Final of Robocup Middle-size Soccer League commences on 14:30 Japan time as the most rigorous, intense competition of this Contest. The past years have witnessed nip and tuck between the two teams as well as hardworking in preparations for this contest. Shortly after the beginning, Water scores a goal and then takes the initiative. Another two goals followed on the first half make Water take the lead by 3:2. On the second half, Water again scores 3 goals and finally wins the competition by 6:3.
According to Wang Xueyan, supervisor and team leader of Water, the Team improves controllers of robots and replaces laptops with self-made controllers in that graphic process is much faster, computing competence is further enhanced, and battery last much longer. All shells and cases have been updated together with transforming parts. Also the Team improves program and algorithm to enhance capacities of defense and offense. Almost immediately after the summer holiday the team members start to prepare for this competition. With joint efforts of both established and new players, Water finally wins the championship.
It is the fifth world championship that Water has won, with the fourth respectively in 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2015. In 2016 the 20th Robocup, Water regrettably loses to Eindhoven TU in penalty kick of the final and wins the silver medal for middle-size soccer team.
