Beijing, 11th July, 2017 (BISTU)--- Mao Xue, a girl majoring in Communication Engineering and deeply in love with music, is embarking on a new journey to a palace of art--- Royal College of Music in London, a college once particularly visited by Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan.
Together with offers from Royal College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, and Royal Northern College of Music, Mao Xue is granted 5,000 Euro scholarship by Birmingham Conservatoire. And she finally chooses to study with Royal College of Music. It is not easy to image that offers of study for music are given to a girl majoring in engineering.
As a girl of four and a half years old, Mao Xue starts to learn playing piano and the learning is interrupted because of entrance examinations to high school and college. At BISTU, she joins BISTU Piano Society and meets with Ms. Xiao Xiao, a BISTU music faculty. She progresses rapidly with guidance of Ms. Xiao Xiao. Last July when she is attending a competition she starts to think about furthering studies abroad. “Had Ms. Xiao not helped and supported me I would not have been accepted by any college.” Says Mao Xue. The preparations for going abroad are hardship for her: eight hours of IELTS learning per day, plus four hours of playing piano. After the IELTS is completed, she also needs to make sure to practice playing piano for eight hours a day. Mao Xue comments that “melodies are always with me, even in the dreams”. She feels more than happy that at BISTU, she has nice teachers and friends and has the opportunity to witness her own growth.
