Chen Gang Meets with GMU Delegation

Beijing, 8th March 2019, (BISTU)— Academic cooperative programs between BISTU and George Mason University (GMU) are fully explored on the meeting between Vice President Chen Gang and GMU delegation headed by Lisa C O’Hara, Director of International Recruitment of GMU.

Chen Gang extends warm welcome to Ms. O’Hara and delegation members and offers a detailed introduction to BISTU. He says that GMU is one of the important partners of BISTU in the States. MoU signed by the two institutions has laid solid foundation for faculties and staff to work closely together. In 2017 BISTU sends faculties for accreditation of engineering programs to GMU, which proves to be very successful. With regard to “121” dual degree undergraduate program, Chen Gang expresses that details shall be fully explored so as to put the program into effect as soon as possible. Meanwhile, it is hoped that cooperation between the two institutions would be expanded to a broad spectrum of academic fields.  

Lisa O’Hara introduces George Mason University and preparations GMU has made for “121” program. She says that GMU is fully confident about prospect of dual degree programs between the two institutions. Currently course mapping is in progress and preparations have been made for signing “121” cooperative agreements. Meanwhile, she emphasizes that all undergraduate and postgraduate programs at GMU are potential areas of exploration in the future.

Director Wang Lei of Division of Admissions and Employment offers an introduction to policies and practices of BISTU in admissions and employment for graduating students. Details of course mapping are discussed by relating faculties. Both institutions agree that by autumn of 2019 all work will be completed and enrollment of new students for “121” program will commence.  

The meeting and discussion is also attended by Dr. Lu Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department, Deputy Director Ji Lili of Academic Affairs Office and Vice Dean Jin Chunhua of School of Economics and Management.
