BISTU Honored with Beijing Municipal Award on Science and Technology Advancement in 2018

Beijing, 1st March 2019, (BISTU)— Grand opening ceremony of Beijing Municipal Conference on Science and Technology Advancement in 2018, attended by Secretary General Cai Qi of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor Chen Jining, witnesses presentation of certificates to award winners in the field of science and technology.  

Altogether 212 project achievements are honored with Beijing Municipal Award on Science and Technology Advancement in 2018, including 24 first prize winners, 58 second prize winners, and 130 third prize winners. A BISTU project, “Research and application of key technology of smart navigation in blind environment” hosted by Prof. Su Zhong and his team members, is honored with second prize.  

This project explores issues relating with problems in blind environment (no prior knowledge or visible information), such as direction loss, ineffective positioning, difficulty in perception, etc., and realizes key technological breakthrough in respect of smart estimation of navigation data, real time fast focus, observation in uncertain environment, and real time map building of mobile carriers. It is a key breakthrough in the field of smart navigation, symbolizing a new milestone of BISTU’s research in smart navigation.  

  

 

Since the thirteenth Five-year Plan commences, academic research at BISTU, guided by “construction of five environments”, actively focuses on key, substantial demand of the nation and serves social, economic development of Beijing. The past years have witnessed continuous increase in research level and competence of science and technology innovation. A series of achievements have been made, including being approved for hosting national key R&D project for the first time, establishment of optical fiber sensor and system lab, establishment of innovation and talent introduction base for advanced photo electronic devices and system, Beijing key lab for big data decision making in green development, and approval of research work station for post-doctorates. These achievements have laid solid foundation for BISTU application in 2020 for approval of doctoral programs and acted as important fulcrum for building a high level university with distinctive feature in information technology.
