Inauguration Meeting for BISTU High-Precision Material Gene Project Center Successfully Completes

Beijing, 23rd January, 2019, (BISTU)--- Inauguration ceremony for Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project (Beijing Information Science and Technology University) successfully completes at Jianxiangqiao Campus of BISTU. The inauguration ceremony is attended by Xie Jianxin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of eijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project, BISTU President Wang Yongsheng, directors of relating divisions of BISTU, experts from University of Science and Technology Beijing and BISTU, and experts from the field of material science. The ceremony is hosted by Vice President Chen Gang.

Wang Yongsheng extends warmest welcome to all experts, scholars and professors and sincere thanks to University of Science and Technology Beijing. He says that BISTU is honored to work as a major contributor to Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project. The Center has seen more than two years’ of careful preparation and is finally approved among a number of competitors. The whole University will invest all we can to promote development of the Center where the University will play a due role and focus on academic research. It is an important part for the University to contribute to realization of “Made in China 2025”, construction of Beijing as a “science and technology innovation center”, and development of material science and engineering as an academic discipline. Meanwhile the University hopes to further facilitate collaboration with University of Science and Technology Beijing on mutual benefit basis.

In his address, Xie Jianxin reviews progress of Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project (USTB). It has attracted an elite team of over one hundred high level experts, including 16 academicians from Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering. He extends thanks to BISTU for generous support with Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project. He mentions that research teams of USTB and BISTU are two important entities of the Center. It is hoped that they will work closely together on the basis of their respective strengths and successfully pass the mid-term inspection so as to achieve satisfactory goal when the project is completed. He believes that cooperation between BISTU and Synfuels China in respect of new energy and catalytic materials is in line with national development demand and has a great prospect in research and application. More talents and resources are recommended to invested in this field.

Xie Jianxin and Wang Yongsheng jointly announce that Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project (Beijing Information Science and Technology University) is established.  

Prof. Li Ning, Director of Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project (Beijing Information Science and Technology University) and Dean of BISTU School of Computer Science delivers a report on progress of the Center. He talks about objectives and missions, key research areas and interests, expected effect, organizational structure, operational management, team building, research plan and latest progress. Li Ning says that the Center will lay emphasis on high throughput algorithm and software of material gene engineering, material database, and material big data technology. And it is aimed at becoming a multiplayer platform for gathering high level talents for high throughput calculation and material database, guiding innovation of node and method of development of new materials, enhancing innovative competence and multi-disciplinary research, and realizing the goal of building a “science and technology innovation center” in Beijing.

On the afternoon opening ceremony is held for industry-School-Research base between Synfuels China and Beijing High-Precision Innovation Center of Material Gene Project (Beijing Information Science and Technology University). Prof. James Lewis from University of Virginia delivers a speech on machine learning-based new material design. Wen Xiaodong, Director of Research and Development Center of Synfuels China, talks about research interests and achievements of the Company. Academic exchange activities are hosted by Prof. Zhang Yangsen, Dean of School of Information Management.
