Beijing, 6th July, (BISTU)--- International Joint Lab on Advanced Opto-electronic Technology welcomes experts of self-appraisal meeting for BISTU Instrumentation Science and Technology program, including chair of experts You Zheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Tsinghua University. Members of expert group include Executive Deputy Director Qu Xinghua of State Key Laboratory of Precision Measurement Technology and Instruments and professor of Tianjin University, Prof. Wen Zhiyu from Chongqing University, Prof. Zeng Zhoumo from Tainjin University and Director of Steering Committee of Instruments and Measurement of Ministry of Education, Prof. Song Aiguo from Southeast University, Prof. Yang Jun from National University of Defense Technology and Director of Steering Committee of Engineering Master of Ministry of Education, Prof. Zhao Weiqian from Beijing Institute of Technology, Prof. Wang Xue from Tsinghua University and Deputy Director of Steering Committee of Engineering Master of Ministry of Education, Prof. Xu Lijun from Beihang University and Deputy Director of Steering Committee of Engineering Master of Ministry of Education, Prof. Duan Fajie from Tianjin University and member of Steering Committee of Engineering Master of Ministry of Education, Prof. Yu Liandong from Hefei University of Technology, and HR Director Chen Jie of Huawei Beijing Research Institute. The meeting is attended by Deputy Director General Ye Maolin of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Deputy Director Li Shanting of Research and Postgraduate Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, BISTU President Wang Yongsheng, Vice President Chen Gang, directors of relating divisions, and deans and faculties of School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering and is hosted by Vice President Chen Gang.
On behalf of BISTU, Wang Yongsheng extends thanks to all experts for their care and support and to Beijing Municipal Education Commission for its support and guidance with BISTU development. His introduction to BISTU particularly covers relating work of the University in responding to “double first-rate” construction national strategy, serving Beijing as “four centers”, and serving the University’s demand in quality development. It includes discipline cluster construction and four key disciplines at BISTU for application of doctoral programs. Wang Yongsheng expresses that BISTU attaches great importance to instrumentation science and technology program and welcome advice and suggestions of all experts which would help greatly improve disciplinary level and competitiveness. The University will conduct corresponding reform based on these suggestions, enhance degree program construction, and lay solid foundation for doctoral programs.
On behalf of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Ye Maolin welcomes all experts to visit BISTU and produce guidance for disciplinary construction. He introduces “double first-rate” construction in Beijing universities, construction of high-grade, precision and advanced disciplines, and reform on degree programs and cultivation of postgraduate students as well as achievements and barriers of disciplinary construction at universities under supervision of Beijing Municipality. Ye Maolin says that Beijing Municipal Education Commission will actively support development of BISTU and instrumentation science and technology as a discipline. It is hoped that overall disciplinary construction capacity will be enhanced via the self-appraisal meeting.
Prof. Zhu Lianqing, head of the Discipline, delivers a report on self-appraisal of instrumentation science and technology program and instruments and measurement program. Following review of the self-appraisal report, checking relating materials, discussions and meeting, experts unanimously agree that the two programs successfully pass self-appraisal. The expert committee agrees that with clear target and objectives, the programs are accurate in educational orientation and carry their own feature with standard norms and regulations. In recent five years the programs have completed a series of national key projects and engineering projects. It owns a number of state-level and provincial level research and teaching platforms with reasonable faculty teams. Curricula are set according to standards with perfect field practice system, which will effectively help postgraduate education. Quality supervision and guarantee system has been established on multiple levels. Cross-disciplinary academic exchange and communication is active both home and abroad. Graduated master students are well received in their work places.
Academician You Zheng in his generalized conclusion fully, positively confirms achievements that Instrumentation Science and Technology has achieved as a first-tier academic discipline. He extends congratulations to successful pass of self-appraisal meeting. It is hoped that construction of Instrumentation Science and Technology at BISTU will center on national development strategy, strengthen school-enterprise cooperation, focus on international frontier knowledge, and enhance contribution to national economic development and modernization construction. He says that active support will constantly be produced for disciplinary construction of Instrumentation Science and Technology and he will continue to support cooperation between BISTU and Tsinghua University in joint construction of Instrumentation Science and Technology as a high grade, precision, and advance discipline so as to better serve Beijing and national strategic demand in talent cultivation, disciplinary construction and academic research.
