Dialogue with Ambassador Held at BISTU

Beijing, 22nd May 2018 (BISTU)— Upon invitation of BISTU, Su Ge, former ambassador of Chinese Embassy in Iceland visits BISTU and deliver a keynote speech on diplomatic knowledge. President Wang Yongsheng and Vice President Liu Xiaoyi meet and talk with Ambassador Su Ge.

After the meeting with President Wang Yongsheng, Su Ge delivers a report titled “Great power diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in a New Era” to over 320 BISTU faculties and students. The seminar is hosted by Director Guo Yinhui of Students’ Affairs Office.

Based on his own diplomatic working experiences, Su Ge lists a large number of diplomatic cases and invaluable declassified documents to offer an overall explanation of historical progress of China and current world political situation, which covers theories and facts of diplomacy of foundation of P.R. China, peaceful diplomacy during the period of opening-up and reform, and great power diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in a New Era. He points out that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a New Era. Chinese diplomacy, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics in a New Era, is walking towards the center of global stage. We are working hard to construct new model of international relations and a community of shared future for mankind. With focus on “loyalty, mission, and dedication”, Su Ge encourages students to keep pace with the times and further broaden their international horizon so as to better contribute to the nation.   

The report is an important part of BISTU 2nd Art and Culture Festival. It is aimed at enhancing understating of national foreign diplomacy and current political affairs so that students and faculties could obtain in-depth understanding of great power diplomacy of China in a New Era.

Currently Su Ge is Chairman and President of China Institute of International Studies and Chairman of Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. He once worked as professor and Ph.D. supervisor of China Foreign Affairs University, Ph.D. supervisor of Tsinghua University, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Suriname, and ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Iceland.
