Beijing, 24th April 2018 (BISTU)— Dr. Kang Kim of University of Pittsburgh, is Appointed honorary professor of BISTU on the ceremony hosted by Vice President Chen Gang on Xiaoying Campus 23rd April.
Chen Gang extends warmest welcome to Dr. Kang Kim and offers an introduction to development of BISTU. Chen Gang says that Dr. Kang Kim has wide international horizon and rich research experiences and has made outstanding achievements in respect of education and research of medicine and biochemical engineering. His academic achievements in biomedical detection and examination are socially, positively influential. The School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering has made some preliminary progress in biomedical detection and examination. It is hoped that Dr. Kang Kim will produce more valuable advice and suggestions for research teams and achieve more with support of BISTU research colleagues. Chen Gang says that Dr. Kang Kim will become a bridge for collaboration between BISTU and University of Pittsburgh so as to facilitate cooperation net the two institutions in respect of academic research, discipline construction, education, and faculty exchange.

Dr. Kang Kim is Professor of Medicine and of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Dr. Kim is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Acoustical Society of America. He has published, as the first author or correspondence author, over 160 journals and essays on international periodicals and for many times has been invented to international conferences for keynote speeches. He holds patents in a number of areas including Ultrasonic linear array, vascular endoscopic imaging, and ultrasonic elastography. He has also hosted a number of projects sponsored by National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
On the appointment ceremony, Dr. Kang Kim expresses that he will exchange and communicate with research team members to actively learn more about planning, development, research, mechanism of BISTU and act as the ambassador between BISTU and the University of Pittsburgh to facilitate collaboration between the two institutions.
BISTU faculties, including Director Xing Jishou of Office for Scientific Research , Executive Vice Dean Wang Jiuhe of Postgraduate School, Director Chen Xin of Human Resources Office, and Director Lu Jing of International Cooperation Department, show their full support with Dr. Kang Kin’s research work and collaboration between the two institutions.
The appointment ceremony is also attended by Dean Dong Mingli of School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering and Director Zhu Lianqing of Key Laboratory of Photo Electronics Test Technology.
