Xu Baojie Meets with Vice President Kevin Truman of UMKC

Beijing, 26th March, 2018 (BISTU)— BISTU Vice President Xu Baojie meets with University of Missouri Kansas City delegation headed by Vice President Kevin Truman of UMKC.  


Xu Baojie extends warmest greetings to the Delegation and expresses that BISTU has made remarkable progress in reform and development. The New Campus is to be completed and international exchange and cooperation is being facilitated. The friendly cooperation between UMKC and BISTU has great implications. It is hoped that both parties could conducted extended exchanges in the form of cultural exchange, student exchange, and faculty visit so as to contribute to mutual understanding and mutual trust of the two countries.  

Kevin Truman says that it is an honor to visit BISTU again and hopes to expand cooperation with BISTU via existing channels like 3+1+1 and 2+2. He introduces that UMKC has provided all international students with sufficient opportunities of internship and employment. Also UMKC has earned sufficient funding from the US government in respect of clean energy, in-depth learning, big data, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, unmanned aviation vehicles, and software engineering. He hopes that the two universities could promote faculty visit and research collaboration to achieve more in areas of mutual concern.  


Dr. Lu Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department of BISTU generalizes the pathways of cooperation with UMKC in the future and suggests that UMKC and BISTU jointly apply for dual-master programs and successive postgraduate-doctoral program in China and that faculty visit and research collaboration shall be centered on key disciplines and programs of both universities.  

The meeting is also attended by Ding Huan, Director of International Programs of UMKC, Wang Jiuhe, Dean of School of Automation, Huang Min, Dean of School of Electromechanical Engineering, and Dean Li Ning of School of Computer Science.  

After the meeting, UMKC delegation holds talks with students of School of Electromechanical Engineering, School of Automation, and School of Computer Science to answer their questions concerning studying with UMKC.
