Oakland University Delegation Visits BISTU

Beijing, 14th March, 2018 (BISTU)— Oakland University Delegation, headed by Prof. Louay Chamra, Dean of College of Computer Science and Engineering, visits BISTU and holds talks with students who have been selected for “international education” project. Vice President Xu Baojie meets with the delegation members.  


Following his warmest welcome to Oakland University Delegation, Xu Baojie says that cooperation between BISTU and OU has achieved tremendous progress. Oakland University enjoys top popularity amongst BISTU students. And exchange students at Oakland have been taken good care of by Oakland University. Parents are thankful to the University for their care, consideration and what students have learned. Xu Baojie extends sincere thanks to Dean Chamra and his colleagues for their kindness and support and hopes that the two universities will bring cooperation to an even deeper level. All Oakland University students and faculties are welcome to visit BISTU at their convenience. Dean Chamra suggests that collaboration could be explored in other respects such as academic conference, faculty visit, or joint research projects.  

Charmra says that it is a real honor to visit BISTU again and extends thanks to efforts BISTU has made to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions. He introduces that average GPA of BISTU students at Oakland exchange program is 3.4, higher than average GPA of Oakland University students (3.0). Students who have successfully completed their exchange programs are doing well. Some students are doing their masters in universities like Purdue University, Northwestern University, Columbia University, etc., and some are starting their jobs in world-famous companies like Amazon and Chrysler. Their success is owing to sincere collaboration between OU and BISTU, in addition to their efforts and their competence of seizing the right opportunity. Oakland University will continue to provide due services for all BISTU students to make a better collaborative program.  

After the meeting, OU Delegation holds talks with students who have been selected for “international education” project and answers various questions of the students on learning and life at Oakland University. They encourage the students to work even harder, to be more confident and to achieve their goals in the future.  

OU delegation members include Prof. Gary Barber from College of Computer Science and Engineering. BISTU faculties attending the meeting include Deputy Director Yan Jian of Teaching Affairs’ Office, Deputy Dean Cui Xinhong of Postgraduate School, Deputy Dean Zhou Zhehai of School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering, Department Chair Li Qiguang of School of Electromechanical Engineering, and Assistant to Dean Meng Kun of School of Computer Science.
