Beijing, 23rd February, 2017 (BISTU)--- BISTU administration delegation, led by Chairman Wang Chuanliang, President Wang Yongsheng and Vice President Han Qiushi, visited University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) for communication and exchange. The delegation members also included directors of General Administration Office, Office for Scientific Research, Human Resources Office, International Cooperation Department, Postgraduate School and School of Computer Science. USTB Chairman Wu Guilong and President Zhang Xinxin met and talked with the delegation.
Following extending their warmest welcome to the delegation, Wu Guilong and Zhang Xinxin expressed that USTB would cooperate with BISTU sincerely in establishing Beijing Materials and Gene Engineering “high-grade, precision and advanced”Innovation Center. On behalf of BISTU, Wang Chuanliang and Wang Yongsheng extended their thanks for USTB’s support and trust and said that BISTU is happy to take the responsibility in establishment of the “high-grade, precision and advanced”Innovation Center. Both institutions shared experiences in developing academic strengths and hoped that further development of research and human resources would be achieved through mutual learning and substantial cooperation.
Professor Xie Jianxin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Beijing Materials and Gene Engineering “high-grade, precision and advanced”Innovation Center, offered an introduction to issues and progress of the center in the past year in respect of institution construction, recruitment, cooperation and exchange, and research projects. Both institutions explored related issues on development of the Center.Beijing Materials and Gene Engineering “high-grade, precision and advanced”Innovation Center is an institute led by USTB and co-constructed by BISTU, Institute of Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group. The Center aims to construct three major platforms for coordinated and innovative development of China’s materials and gene engineering research, i.e., high throughout computing, high throughout synthesis, and private database, to conduct researches on four key technologies, i.e., high throughout computing methods, high throughout preparation technology, high throughout characterization, and big data of materials and gene engineering, and to achieve breakthroughs in application of key materials such as special alloy, energy materials, new functional materials, etc. The Center is dedicated to growing up into a platform for attracting talents in the field of materials and gene engineering, for innovation in development of new materials research, for helping achieving the goal of Beijing as a national center of science and technology innovation, and for promotion of research and innovation competence of BISTU and USTB in cross-disciplinary research.
