Wang Yongsheng Attends Appraisal Conference for Mid-term Construction of Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering

Beijing, 23rd April, 2019, (BISTU)— BISTU President Wang Yongsheng attends the Appraisal Conference for Mid-term Construction of Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering. The Conference, held at University of Science and Technology Beijing, is also attended by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Evaluation Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, relating universities and institutions, experts, academic leaders, and other relating faculties and is hosted by Director Liu Qing of Evaluation Center of Ministry of Science and Technology.

On behalf of BISTU as co-sponsor of the Center, Wang Yongsheng delivers a keynote speech. He points out that BISTU owes thanks to other sponsors including University of Science and Technology Beijing, Institute of Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China Iron and Steel Research Institute Group for working together in construction of Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering. In the process of building this Center, BISTU brings strengths of the University, particularly strengths in respect of big data and software, into full play and shoulders two important missions, i.e., high through-put materials computer design and specialized database for material genetic engineering. Participation in construction of Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering has offered a substantial platform for BISTU being listed in “double first rate” project of Beijing Municipality and laid important foundation for the University to realize “three-step development” strategy and build a high level university with distinct features in information technology. BISTU has attached tremendous importance to construction of the Center. And it will actively work together with University of Science and Technology Beijing to successfully, effectively complete the mission.

Secretary General Wu Guilong of University of Science and Technology Beijing expresses that construction of the Center offers a valuable opportunity for the University to strengthen collaboration with local governments and universities to effectively promote construction of a first rate university. Li Xinnan, Head of evaluation group and Deputy Director General of Chinese Association for Science of Science and S&T Policy, says that expert committee will soon be established to conduct appraisal. Academician Xie Jianxin of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering delivers a report on the Center.  

Beijing Municipality initiates building plan for Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering in October 2015, aiming at constructing about 20 high-grade, precision, advanced centers covering about 50 projects. Beijing High-grade, Precision, Advanced Innovation Center for Material Genetic Engineering is approved by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in 16th October 2017 as one of the third cohort of high-grade, precision, advanced centers which are to be completed within 5 years. The Center is sponsored by University of Science and Technology Beijing with three co-sponsors, namely BISTU, Institute of Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China Iron and Steel Research Institute Group.
