Beijing, 28th April, 2017 (BISTU)--- BISTU project “Key Technology and Application of Smart Stereoscopic Warehouse”, chaired by Prof. Zhang Yangsen of School of Computer Science, is granted the Second Prize of the 2016 Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Award in the meeting hosted by CPC Beijing Committee and Beijing Municipal Government. And also the meeting sees another BISTU Third Prize winner--- Development Technology and Application of Automobile High Precision Positioning Velocity Radar, co-chaired by Associate Prof. Cao Lin of School of Communication Engineering.
The project “Key Technology and Application of Smart Stereoscopic Warehouse” is listed in the area of computer information technology and it integrates computer information management, computer control technology and mechanical engineering to solve the problem in logistics that warehouses are low in efficiency in that they are not fully utilized and take up too much land. The achievement conducts researches on warehouse management system (WMS), warehouse control system (WCS) and key technology issues in logistics equipment and has won 8 invention patents and 13 software copyrights. They have also been applied to over 100 work places in 22 provinces.
“Development Technology and Application of Automobile High Precision Positioning Velocity Radar” aims at the problems that traditional velocity radar cannot accurately identify targets and locate the position and that traffic speed radar is easy to be disturbed by environment. The project develops high precision positioning radar system for automobiles and it has been extensively applied to traffic control of the country (inclusive of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). In domestic market it has taken the place of imported products and takes up over 60% of market.
Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Award focuses on encouraging technology achievements in key industries and fields as specified in municipal plan for national economic and social development, technology achievements which have been jointly developed by industries and universities and have been applied within Municipality, and technology achievements which have their own intellectual property or which could form national or international standards. The awarded achievements epitomize successes of Beijing in science and technology innovation. In 2016 the whole municipality grants 180 Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Awards, including 27 First Prizes, 60 Second Prizes, and 93 Third Prizes.
BISTU Office for Scientific Research says that more support will be produced to further actively encourage faculties and students to engage in research, build up their competence and confidence, and advance BISTU research along a better and stronger pathway so that greater contributions would be made by the University to Beijing.
Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Award meeting are attended by Guo Jinlong, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Communist Party Secretary of Beijing, Cai Qi, Mayor of Beijing, Li Meng, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, and Yin Hejun, Vice Mayor of Beijing.
