Beijing, 31st October 2018 (BISTU)— Deputy Secretary General Wang Xiuyan of CPC BISTU Committee attends the first annual conference of “Belt and Road” China-Poland League of Universities held at Silesian University of Technology of Poland and signs agreement on collaboration on future projects.
On the day of arriving in Poland, Wang Xiuyan meets with Rector Arkadiusz Mezyk of Silesian University of Technology, Vice Rector for Science and Development Marek Pawelczyk, and Director Grzegorz Klapyta of International Relations Office. Both institutions reach consensus on collaborative doctoral degree programs, faculty exchange, students’ exchange, and research collaboration and sign memorandum of cooperation. Wang Xiuyan also visits Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science and discusses cooperative issues with Dean Adam Czornik.
The annual conference of “Belt and Road” China-Poland League of Universities aims at summarizing working affairs of the League, making planning for future cooperation, facilitate inter-member collaboration, discussing issues regarding the rotating chair institution, and deciding key activities in 2019. As a member of the League, BISTU delegation attends all relating conferences and reviews reports delivered by the Secretariat Department of the League.
The “Belt and Road” China-Poland League of Universities is a non-profit, strategic cooperation organization in response to the Belt and Road Initiative. It is based on support and guidance of Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, existing cooperative programs between universities in Beijing and Chongqing and Poland universities, and implementation of China-Central and East European countries dialogue on educational policy. In the principle of “voluntary equality, openness, sharing, mutual beneficial cooperation, and innovative development”, the League is expected to develop partnership between Chinese universities and higher educational institutions in Poland and in Central & East European countries.
