Beijing, 21st February 2024 (BISTU)--- Inaugural meeting of the Demonstration Park for Vocational Education in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei welcomed its opening ceremony on 21st February at Gu’an Campus of Beijing Institute of Economics and Management. It was an important move in implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on promoting Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development and facilitating high-quality development of vocational education. The Meeting was attended by Vice Minister of Education Sun Yao (Member of CPC Leading Group of Ministry of Education), Secretary Yu Yingjie of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee (a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee), Secretary Wang Xu of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee (a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee), and Vice Governor Dong Zhaowei of Hebei Province (Secretary of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee). President Guo Fu of BISTU also attended the inaugural meeting.  

Director Li Yi of Beijing Municipal Education Commission announced the notice on establishing the Demonstration Park for Vocational Education in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Educational administration departments of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei signed the agreement and leaders of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei inaugurated the Demonstration Park.  

The Park is featured for interconnectivity among industries, sectors, enterprises, vocations, and specialties. There would be 13 undergraduate programs (for 1,005 future students) to be jointly delivered by BISTU, Beijing Institute of Technology, Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Technology and Business University, Beijing Union University, and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology as well as a number of leading enterprises in related industries. It was aimed at exploring a new model for “order-based undergraduate education”.  

Inter-school cooperative agreement was signed by Guo Fu and presidents of Beijing Institute of Technology, Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Technology and Business University, Beijing Union University, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and Beijing Institute of Economics and Management. According to the agreement, three programs of BISTU, i.e., Financial Management (Digital Finance), Accounting (Big-data Accounting), and Network and New Media (Digital Media) were listed in programs offered to future students of the Demonstration Park.  

Guo Fu offered an introduction to the three programs. Agreement signing and exploration of the new joint educational model was a good experiment for gathering strengths and wisdom of various institutions and local governments to achieve joint development. It was also one of the steps that BISTU has taken in participating and blending in social and economic development in areas around Beijing, implementing the strategy of building a nation with powerful education, and contributing to the national strategy of Beijing Tianjin Hebei integration. Guo Fu said. He added that it was a great opportunity and the University would spare no efforts to providing support with regional social and economic development and coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.  

The Demonstration Park for Vocational Education in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei was jointly established by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission and Hebei Education Department. Based on the high-quality development of industries in southern Beijing, Tianjin, Langfang, Xiong’an, etc., the Demonstration Park would become a shared community for vocational education and general education, industry-education integration, and science-education integration. In the principle of “priority with reform, synergy in innovation, and coordinated development”, educational departments of the three provinces would coordinate to gather quality educational resources to empower industrial development with education. Meanwhile, the Demonstration Park would also explore inter-school, school-local government, and school-enterprise cooperation to cultivate high level technical talents urgently required by industries of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.  

The Meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary Wang Yingjie of Beijing Municipal Government and attended by over 200 participants including directors of divisions of Ministry of Education, Xiongan New Area Management Committee, education departments of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, educational institutes, universities, vocational colleges, and enterprises as well as Vice President Wang Xingfen and directors of Academic Affairs Office, Office for Admissions and Career Consultation, School of Economics and Management, and School of Media and Public Administration.
