Beijing, 20th January 2024 (BISTU)--- President Guo Fu met with Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) delegation headed by Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov on 20th January 2024. Both institutions signed the agreement of cooperation to promote Sino-Uzbekistan academic exchanges and communication.

Guo Fu extended warm welcome to Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov and TUIT delegation. He offered an introduction to BISTU in respect of educational history, achievements in talent cultivation, academic strengths, academic disciplines and programs, progresses with frontier research, etc. BISTU looked forward to working together with TUIT in exploring Sino-foreign joint-running programs. Guo Fu said. He added that Uzbekistan is one of the earliest supporters and participants for the Belt and Road Initiative. A number of cooperative projects between China and Uzbekistan on the Belt and Road Initiative have served as the macro-background and laid a solid foundation for the cooperation between the two institutions. Both universities were based in the capital of a nation, featured for information technology, and focused on information-related disciplines, indicating that there was a great future for multi-level and multi-layer cooperation. Signing the memorandum of cooperation officially ignited the exchanges and cooperation for both institutions. It was expected that interactions would be strengthened and our respective strengths in information technology be solidified so as to contribute to exchanges and communication in higher education and culture between China and Uzbekistan.

Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov extended thanks to BISTU for the warm reception and introduced TUIT in respect of history, global cooperation, and talent cultivation. Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov stressed that TUIT attached great importance to talent cultivation and international cooperation. It was an honor to establish partnership with BISTU. TUIT looked forward to initiating joint-development of academic disciplines and joint-cultivation of students, aiming at achieving mutual benefit and making contributions to China-Uzbekistan friendly exchanges.
President Guo Fu and Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov signed the memorandum of cooperation on behalf of BISTU and TUIT, symbolizing establishment of the cooperative ties between the two institutions.
The meeting and signing ceremony was chaired by Vice President Xiao Zhisong. Seizing the opportunity of the Belt and Road Initiative, BISTU would strengthen the ties with TUIT and push ahead projects like summer training programs and joint-running programs. Xiao Zhisong said.
It is the very first time that BISTU met with a delegation from Central Asia universities and the very first time that BISTU established official cooperative partnership with a Central Asian higher educational institution, marking a new chapter of international exchange and cooperation of BISTU.
The meeting and signing ceremony was also attended by International Director Ibrohimbek Yusupov of TUIT, Director Jakhongir Makhmudov of Career Center of TUIT, and Director Qu Li of International Cooperation Department (Dean of International Education School) of BISTU.
