Beijing, 11th January 2024 (BISTU)--- BISTU and Beijing Jiaotong University signed agreement of cooperation on 11th January 2024 at Beijing Jiaotong University to bring their respective academic strengths into full play and to promote all-round, multi-field, deep-level collaboration. The signing ceremony was attended by Secretary Wang Jiaqiong of CPC Beijing Jiaotong University Committee, Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee, and President Guo Fu and was chaired by Vice President Gao Yan of Beijing Jiaotong University.  

Wang Jiaqiong expressed welcome to BISTU delegation and congratulations to agreement signing. He offered an introduction to Beijing Jiaotong University in respect of talent cultivation, academic research, social service, faculties and staff, services provided for national strategic development, and future development of the University, i.e., orientation and strategic planning of the University under the context of building a “double first-class” university. He expressed that BISTU is an institution gaining substantial support from Beijing Municipality. With its long history, academic strengths, distinctive features, and strong development momentum, BISTU now was seeing a great prospect. Academic disciplines at the two institutions were complementary. And both institutions have long been working together in talent cultivation, academic research, and academic exchange. It was hoped that the agreement signing would help build a greater platform of cooperation to bring cooperation of mutual benefit to a new level.  

Xie Jiangling extended thanks to the warm reception. He looked forward to future development of the cooperation. Following his introduction to BISTU in educational history, school-running orientation, features in academic disciplines and programs, new campus construction, and achievements in serving national and municipal development and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, he expressed that Beijing Jiaotong University, as an MOE-supervised institution, has been targeting the frontier of sci-tech research and nurtured a large number of outstanding talents for national rail transport. It was expected that both institutions would bring their features and strengths into full play in cooperation, share resources, support each other, and conduct substantive cooperation in academic disciplines, party building, talent cultivation, publicity, and management. We were looking forward to jointly make greater contributions to national and regional social economic development.  

Guo Fu expressed that the long-reaching ties between BISTU and Beijing Jiaotong University have witnessed fruitful inter-school cooperation in past years in academic research and faculty exchange. Currently, BISTU laid focus on fostering virtue through education as the fundamental mission to facilitate development of academic disciplines and science and technology innovation. A complete educational system has been established incorporating bachelor, master, and doctoral education with efforts on cultivating innovative talents of applied learning. The agreement would be a new starting point for further collaboration between both institutions. It was hoped that the cooperation mechanism would be further innovated to achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages in academic disciplines, academic research, talent cultivation, and platform building so as to ensure high quality development of both universities.  

Vice President Xiao Zhisong of BISTU and Vice President Jing Tao of Beijing Jiaotong University joined discussions on cooperation concerning application for approval of doctoral programs, building academic disciplines of strengths, and highlighting the strengths in information technology.  

The Agreement was signed by Xiao Zhisong and Gao Yan on behalf of their respective institutions.  

Based on the Agreement, the two institutions would conduct in-depth cooperation in talent cultivation, academic research, and party building in the principle of “resource sharing, supplementing advantages, two-bound exchange, mutual development”.  

The signing ceremony was also attended by faculties and staff of Beijing Jiaotong University including Director Lan Xiaoxia of Publicity Department (member of the Standing Committee of CPC Beijing Jiaotong University Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department), Director Zhao Lan of Organizational Department (member of the Standing Committee of CPC Beijing Jiaotong University Committee), Director Yao Nianlong of General Administration Office (member of the Standing Committee of CPC Beijing Jiaotong University Committee), and directors of External Liaison Cooperation Office, Undergraduate School, Institute of Sciences and Technology, Postgraduate School, etc. as well as BISTU faculties and staff including Director Li Huatao of Organizational Department (member of the Standing Committee of CPC BISTU Committee), Director Du Shizhi of Publicity Department  (member of the Standing Committee of CPC BISTU Committee), and directors of General Administration Office, Academic Affairs Office, Office for Scientific Research, Postgraduate School, External Liaison Office, etc.
