Guo Fu met with Yeo Kiat Seng

Beijing, 23rd September 2025 (BISTU)--- President Guo Fu met with Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng, Advisor for Global Partnerships (Office of President) of Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Science, Singapore Academy of Engineering, ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, , AAIA, AIIA, and IEEE, and Foreign Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. The meeting on deepening cooperation between the two universities was chaired by Vice President Xiao Zhisong.

Guo Fu extended warm welcome to Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng. He pointed out that the talent cultivation model at BISTU, i.e., “information plus”, “AI plus”, and “education plus industry chain”, is in high agreement with AI, big data, and industry-education integration principle at SUTD, indicating a vast potential of cooperation. More substantive achievements would be made in joint cultivation of talents, faculty visit, and joint research with efforts from both institutions. He added.

Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng offered an introduction to SUTD and shared his thinking on cross-disciplinary learning and education and international research collaboration. Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng expressed that SUTD expected to work together with BISTU in faculty and student exchange and joint research.

Xiao Zhisong pointed out that Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng’s academic report offered a deep understanding of the cutting-edge academic trends and research paradigms. We hope that Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng would help promote cooperation between the two universities. Xiao Zhisong said.

Both universities shared experiences in cross-disciplinary talent cultivation, industry-learning-research integration, innovation and entrepreneurship for students, etc. and explored possibilities of future cooperation in these fields.

Prof. Yeo Kiat Seng delivered an academic report titled "Artificial Intelligence X Integrated Circuits and Their Impact on Education and Research" for the faculty and students of BISTU. The report provided an in-depth exploration of the challenges, opportunities, and coping strategies facing modern education and research against the backdrop of rapid technological change.

The meeting and academic report were attended by directors and deans of Department of Human Resources, Department of International Affairs, and College of Information and Communication Engineering.
