BISTU Honored with State-level Awards on China International College Students’ Innovation Competition

Beijing, 30th January 2024 (BISTU)--- “Dancing in Fields--- Unmanned self-learning coordinated drones for agriculture”, a BISTU team, stood out of 4.21 million projects from 5,296 universities home and abroad and was granted a state-level bronze medal---the third state-level medal that BISTU won in three consecutive years, according to the recent notice published by Ministry of Education on China International College Students Innovation Competition (2023). BISTU team has won 180 awards inclusive of 6 state-level bronze medals in this Competition.

The team is based on Beijing Key Laboratory of High Dynamic Navigation Technology at School of Automation. It designed an intelligent drone for agricultural use with low cost and featured for self-learning and clustering operation. The drones could be applied to whole-process monitoring for planting, cultivating, and picking vegetables and fruits. Basically it could achieve unmanned planting, intelligent cultivation, dynamic monitoring, and coordinated picking, which significantly enhanced the technological empowerment in agricultural production.

Recent years have witnessed the efforts of BISTU in adapting to rapid development of science and technology, industries, and society. A variety of measures have been taken to facilitate innovation competence and entrepreneurship of students as well as their individualized growth. A multi-dimensional talent cultivation model has been established with interconnectivity between industries and education, science and education, various disciplines, undergraduate and postgraduate education, school and local governments, and between local institutions and international institutions.
