Beijing, 8th July 2025 (BISTU)--- Upon invitation of IAMCR (International Association for Media and Communication Research) , Guo Jingyi and Wang Qi of College of Communication Arts and Sciences attended 2026 IAMCR held at the University of Galway and delivered academic reports respectively on “CRI-Social Media and AI in War”and “POL-Visual Political Communication in Multimodal Platforms”, the two sub-sessions of the Conference.

An essay co-authored by Zhang Jinru, an undergraduate student of the College majoring in Network and New Media, and Wang Qi was also selected by “HEC-Technology and Public Health” of the Conference.

The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) facilitated the establishment of IAMCR, providing the founding platform for the association in 1957. The association promotes media and communication research throughout the world, addressing socio-political, technological, policy and cultural processes. Its members include individuals and institutions from more than 100 countries across all continents. It is publicly recognized as one of the four leading academic organizations in news and media studies, with its annual academic conference being recognized as a leading academic conference. IAMCR annual conference attracts outstanding scholars, policy analysts, and media practitioners from all around the world.

The 2026 IAMCR is themed on “Peripheries and Connections: Media, Communication, and Transformation” and discussed emerging issues and diversified development in the field of media and communication. Invitation sent to faculty of BISTU would effectively enhance influence of College of Communication Arts and Sciences in global communication studies, which would help promote global academic exchanges, deepen joint research, and facilitate high-quality development of media and communication as an academic discipline.
