Beijing, 20th July 2026 (BISTU)--- Upon invitation of partner institutions, President Guo Fu visited universities in Vietnam and Australia, aiming to strengthen global cooperation and enhance cultivation of globalized talents. BISTU delegation visited Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ton Duc Thang University, Deakin University, Swinburne University of Technology, and Torrens University Australia. Discussions were centered on joint cultivation of students, faculty exchange, joint research, and educational cooperation in the field of information technology, artificial intelligence, automation, and intelligent manufacturing.

Exploring multi-layered cooperation in engineering

BISTU delegation visited Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology on 13th July and held talks with Vice President Pham Tran Vu, directors of international office, and deans of Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Applied Science, and School of Industrial Management. Guo Fu commented that both institutions had strengths in engineering and were in high alignment in computer science, artificial intelligence, electricity and electronics, automation, and mechanical engineering. It was a solid foundation for multi-layered sustainable cooperation.

Both institutions conducted in-depth discussions on 3+1 and 2+2 undergraduate education, 1+1+1 postgraduate education, course mapping, assessment of learning results, teaching quality assurance, short-term student exchanges, and faculty visit. The consent was reached that cooperation initiative would be discussed in detail by relevant departments of respective institutions.

Signing MoU to strengthen joint research

On the same day, BISTU delegation visited TonDucThangUniversity and met with President Tran Trong Dao, international directors, and deans of Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Faculty of Business Administration. Both institutions reached consent on faculty exchange and cooperation, joint efforts in international academic conferences, joint-building of laboratories, and short-term and long-term exchange of undergraduates and postgraduates in the field of information technology, computer science, artificial intelligence, automation, and digitalization. Cooperation in big data, network security, intelligent manufacturing, measurement and control technology, and photo electronic information technology was also explored.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities was then signed, symbolizing establishment of a long-standing stable cooperative relationship.

Learning from practical education experiences to strengthen students’ professional competence

BISTU delegation visited Deakin University on 15th July 2026 and met with Vice President John Molony, international directors and officers, and deans and chairs of Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Built Environment and School of Information Technology. Guo Fu offered an introduction to BISTU in respect of talent cultivation, science and technology innovation, and global education. Hands-on education, industrial coordination, and digitalization teaching at Deakin University were in high alignment with focus of BISTU on practical and innovative competence of students and the school-running orientation of serving industrial development. Guo Fu said.

Both institutions discussed research collaboration in automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing and reached consent on short-term student exchanges, joint cultivation of students, and faculty visit. Future efforts would be invested in strengthening connections between colleges and research teams of the two universities.

Focusing on advanced manufacturing and engineering practice to deepen coordinated innovation of industry, learning and research

BISTU delegation visited Swinburne Universityof Technology on the day and met with Vice President JasonMcGovern and deans of School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies, and School of Engineering. Following introductions by both institutions, Guo Fu expressed that Swinburne Universityof Technology was in high alignment with BISTU in sci-tech innovation, industrial collaboration, and hands-on education, indicating great potential in future cooperation. Both institutions conducted in-depth discussion on 3+1 and 2+2 undergraduate education, 1+1+1 postgraduate education, student exchange, faculty visit, and joint research in information and communication engineering, instrument science and technology, photo electronic information science and technology, electrical and mechanical engineering, etc. Further discussions were also held on commercialization of research findings and digital-driven transformation and upgrading of business programs.

The delegation then visited Hawthorn Campus of the University and Factory of theFuture to learn more about featured measures and successful experiences in advanced manufacturing, engineering practice, and coordinated innovation of industry, learning and research.

Promoting blended learning to deepen educational cooperation

BISTU delegation visited Torrens UniversityAustralia on 16th July 2026 and met with deans of relevant faculties and schools. Discussions were held on cultivation of talents of applied learning, international course mapping, and hands-on education. Details were explored on 3+1 undergraduate education, 1+1+1 postgraduate education, and student exchanges in business, software engineering, and network security. Both institutions also explored reform of blended learning, AI-empowering education, etc. Guo Fu said that Torrens UniversityAustralia was very impressive in its school-running philosophy of closely responding to industry demands and prioritizing students' career readiness, which was exactly the purpose of BISTU’s nurturing innovative, globalized talents of applied learning. It was hoped that both institutions would discuss more details in cooperation to explore the vast potential of cooperation. Guo Fu added.

During the visit, Guo Fu said that BISTU, rooted in information technology as an education feature, took the initiative in serving sci-tech revolution and industrial upgrading and constantly promoting educational globalization. In the principle of mutual benefit and complementary cooperation, we would like to work together with global partners and friends in talent cultivation, academic research, faculty development, and industry-education fusion to jointly cultivate high-quality talents with global horizon and innovative hands-on capability.

The visits enhanced mutual understanding between BISTU and universities in Vietnam and Australia, expanded links in South East Asia and Oceania, and clarified the cooperative orientation in multi-layered joint talent cultivation, coordinated research innovation, and two-bound student exchanges. More efforts would be invested in strengthening connections with international partners and friends and improving educational globalization so as to bring new momentum to building a high-level university with distinctive feature in information technology.
