Beijing, 3rd March 2023 (BISTU)--- BISTU delegation headed by Vice President Chen Xin visited Xiongan New Area on university-local government cooperation in respect of digital city construction and intelligent social governance. The delegation met with Vice Director General Ma Qinghong of the Administrative Committee of the Xiongan New Area (BISTU Vice President), Director Zhang Qiang of Digitalization Office, Deputy Head Gong Xianpeng of Public Service Bureau, and Deputy Director Zang Xuan of Education Division of Public Service Bureau.  

Following the visit to Display Center for Xiongan Planning, Xiongan-Power China Intelligent City Display Center, and Rongdong City Operations Center, Chen Xin and delegation members conducted talks with local government sectors and companies, including Public Service Bureau of Xiongan New Area, China Telecom System Integration Co., Ltd., Digital City Company of China Xiongan Group, etc.  

Chen Xin produced an introduction to BISTU in respect of historical development, educational features, academic strengths, etc. and explored possible cooperation between both parties in the field of digital city-based scenario verification, innovation of intelligent social governance, state key research plan on Xiongan New Area, and commercialization of research achievements in Xiongan. He pointed out that Xiongan New Area had lasting importance for the millennium to come. “Global vision, international standards, distinctive Chinese features, and future-oriented goals” in the planning and construction of Xiong’an New Area has been carried along. As a key university with substantial support from Beijing Municipality, BISTU will provide support with coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and actively contribute to Xiongan New Area construction. We were inspired by the visit to Xiongan New Area. In the future, the University was expecting to make greater contributions to the goal of building Beijing into an international innovation center for science and technology, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, and construction of Xiongan New Area in respect of science and technology innovation, talent cultivation, industry-education-research-government cooperation, etc.  

Zhang Qiang extended warm welcome to BISTU delegation and offered an introduction to general planning of Xiongan New Area, digital city construction, and development of digital economy. He pointed out that BISTU had distinctive feature and strong competence in information technology. It was highly in line with the demand of Xiongan New Area in respect of digital city construction. On this crucial stage of building a digital city in Xiongan New Area, both technology and talents were urgently needed. It was hoped that both party would deepen cooperation in exploring establishment of new-type research institutes to push forward intelligent city construction in Xiongan New Area.  

Infrastructure projects on digital city construction were introduced by Digital City Company of China Xiongan Group and governance system of intelligent communities by China Telecom System Integration Co., Ltd., followed by introductions made by BISTU faculties on research strengths, research fields, and user scenarios.  

The visit and discussions were also attended by staffs of Public Service Bureau of Xiongan New Area as well as BISTU faculties and staff, including directors and deans of Office for Scientific Research, Industrial Development and Cooperation Office, School of Economics and Management, School of Information Management, School of Computer Science, School of Automation, and School of Information and Communication Engineering.
