Beijing, 24th November 2024 (BISTU)--- Organized by BISTU and co-organized by Beijing Association for Science and Technology and Higher Education Press, 2024 Annual Academic Conference of Mathematical Society was held at BISTU on 23rd November 2024. The Conference was attended by Academician Xi Nanhua of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Zhou Xiangyu of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Chen Songxi of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director Tie Chunlei of Scientific and Technological Innovation Department of Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Deputy Director Chen Zhengxiong of Sciences Department of Higher Education Press, and President Guo Fu.

The Conference was chaired by Prof. Yang Jiazhong of Peking University, Secretary-general of Beijing Mathematical Society.

Guo Fu met with Academician Xi Nanhua, Academician Zhou Xiangyu, and Academician Chen Songxi and extended warm congratulations to the Conference. Offering an introduction to BISTU’s efforts and achievements in interdisciplinary field of mathematics and artificial intelligence, Guo Fu pointed out that BISTU has been actively promoting inter-disciplinary integration based on “information plus and AI plus” subjects. A complete talent cultivation system has been formed covering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education. Guo Fu spoke highly of the contributions of Beijing Mathematical Society to education, talent cultivation, and regional academic exchange. BISTU would keep working closely together with Beijing Mathematical Society, bring our strengths in intellisense, intelligent equipment, and intelligent decision-making into full play, and facilitate in-depth integration of mathematics and artificial intelligence to contribute to high quality development of Beijing. Guo Fu said.

Chairman Liu Xiaobo of Beijing Mathematical Society (professor of Peking University) addressed the opening ceremony. Following the warm welcome to attendees and sincere thanks to BISTU and other supporters, he briefed the audiences on achievements of Beijing Mathematical Society in mathematical studies, education, and competitions on high-school and university level. Liu Xiaobo stressed that Beijing Mathematical Society, Tianjin Mathematical Society, and Hebei Mathematical Society initiated two conferences on mathematical studies, an important step to strengthen cooperation and communication for Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. This is the second annual academic conference of Beijing Mathematical Society. It was expected that attendees would conduct extensive communication and exchanges to promote development and progress of mathematical studies. Said Liu Xiaobo.

In his address, Chen Zhengxiong warmly congratulated the annual conference and expressed sincere thanks to Beijing Mathematical Society for its key contributions to publishing high-level textbooks in Beijing. Higher Education Press is committed to integrated innovation and coordinated development of education, sci-tech, and talent. He looked forward to strengthen communication with Beijing Mathematical Society to contribute to development of mathematical studies.

Awarding ceremony for winners of outstanding papers and nomination of outstanding papers among young scholars, chaired by Deputy Dean of CAS Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (Vice Chairman and Director of Academic Committee of Beijing Mathematical Society), was held after the opening ceremony. Certificates were presented by Liu Xiaobo, Vice Chairman Li Haizhong of Beijing Mathematical Society, Yang Jiazhong, and Dean Wang Kaishun of School of Mathematical Sciences of Beijing Normal University (Vice Chairman of Beijing Mathematical Society).

Academic reports were delivered by Academician Xi Nanhua, Academician Zhou Xiangyu, and Academician Chen Songxi, followed by animated discussions.

Sub-venues were organized for 48 academic reports on eight areas of studies, i.e., algebra, geometry and topology, analysis and differential equation, operational research and control, probability statistics, computational mathematics, inter-disciplinary sciences, and mathematics in high school.

The Conference was joined by over 300 researchers and educational workers from Beijing-based universities, research institutes, and high schools. It built a platform of academic exchange and communication and contributed to development of mathematical studies in Beijing.
