Beijing, 10th October 2024 (BISTU)--- Themed “Youth for the nation, love for the future”, an event was organized on 10th October for students enrolled in 2024 to meet with Chairman Xie Jiangling of the University Council at the University Library of Shahe Campus. During the face-to-face talk with students, Xie Jiangling shared his experiences and discussed youth and passion for the future.

Xie Jiangling commented that he was happy for all students who have now been enjoying life and learning on campus. He was proud that BISTU students have shouldered their responsibilities in sci-tech innovation and social service. We are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Reviewing the past, we have been through a lot. Development of our nation required joint efforts and endeavor of all Chinese people. He added that the past 87 years saw that BISTUers, for generations, have been pioneering and endeavoring to contribute to sci-tech innovation, social practice and volunteer services.

When discussing future development and personal growth, Xie Jiangling shared his understanding and experiences in four aspects. First, students should have great ambitions and be courageous to shoulder responsibilities. He hoped that students would integrate personal growth in national development so as to make greater contributions to our nation. Second, students should have their own dreams and be bold in scaling heights. Dreams will guide us to future and endeavor helps build a better future. He said. Third, the spirit of being steadfast and earnest at work should be implemented. He hoped that students would take initiative in doing things. And fourth, cultivation of virtues remained a prime task for all. It was hoped that students would always be modest, prudent, and free from arrogance and impetuosity. Meanwhile, he emphasized the importance of developing a habit of extensive reading.

Vice President Xiao Zhisong expressed that BISTU has gained great momentum for future development, indicating unlimited possibilities for future growth of all students. As the young group full of vigor and vitality, students were expected to make better use of educational resources, cherish and relish on-campus years, and prepare themselves for a bright future.

The event saw 13 representatives of various majors share their experiences on celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, on-campus life and learning, individual development, etc.

Student Inspiration Team presented a micro-public speaking themed “love of motherland, passion for the future”.

Artistic performances were also contributed by representatives of new students, i.e., flute playing by Ling Lan, dancing by Vaslan Aniva and Jasur Rehman, and painting by Wang Suyao.

Xie Jiangling offered a tailored university calendar for representatives of new students as a gift and presented them with two books, i.e., Xi Jinping: Stories with University Students and World of Plainness.

Meeting with the Chairman is one of the important sectors of political and ideological lectures delivered by senior administrators of the University. The event was joined by Director Du Shizhi of Publicity Department, Director Niu Zhiying of the United Front Work Department, directors of relating divisions and offices, vice chairmen of BISTU schools, and representatives of counselors and students.

Ji Wanyan – majoring in Digital Management at School of Management Science and Engineering: Chairman Xie has offered a very unique political and ideological lecture which touched me deeply. I will keep working to find where my passion lies and will work closely together with friends around me. I will show my love of the university and country with actions. And I will be honored to make contributions to future of BISTU and our nation.

Duan Xuyang – majoring in Translation at School of Foreign Studies: BISTU is an family of inclusiveness and vitality for various students. Some choose BISTU out of interest. Some are from Xinjiang or even Vietnam. Each of us can compose our own chapters here. I am lucky to learn on this campus. Chairman Xie has made clear to us the responsibilities we are to shoulder and the mission we are to complete. In the future, I will work hard to become one of the young translators with devotion to our nation. I wish I could bring the charm of traditional Chinese culture to a wider spectrum of people in the world.

Xin Yutong – majoring in Communication at School of Media and Public Administration: I am honored to join Meeting with the Chairman as one of the new student representatives. I like the stories about the serendipity between students and BISTU. We come to BISTU with our dreams and will start a new chapter here. And I am convinced that future days will witness the fruits based on my passion and endeavor.
