Beijing, 4th November 2024 (BISTU)--- National Finals of the 14th “Challenge Cup” Qinchuangyuan Platform National College Students Entrepreneurship Competition held in Xi’an from 29th October to 2nd November 2024 saw BISTU teams winning 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze medal, a first-time gold medal and a record high achievement of the University!

Chairman Xie Jiangling and President Guo Fu held talks with representatives of the three winning teams. Xie Jiangling stressed that success of the three teams would motivate more students to join activities of sci-tech innovation, which helped build a stronger atmosphere of learning and academic research. Guo Fu pointed out that winning medals for the first time in this competition carried important implications for the University. The Competition was co-sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China Association for Science and Technology, All-China Students’ Federation, and Shaanxi Province Government and co-organized by Xi’an Jiaotong University and Shaanxi Committee of the Communist Young League. It attracted over 390 thousand projects by 3-odd millions students from more than 2,700 higher educational institutions all around China. The national finals saw 839 projects from 426 universities and colleges.

BISTU attached great importance to academic subject competitions. Preparations for the Challenge Cup initiated as early as in September 2023 has been led by University Youth League Committee with support from Academic Affairs Office, Office for Scientific Research, Postgraduate School, Students Affairs Office, and Office for Admissions and Career Consultation. Compared to the 17th Innovation Cup, this year saw an increase of 77% in the number of projects and 87% in the number of participants.

Beijing Session of the 2024 Challenge Cup witnessed BISTU teams win 6 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 21 bronze medals. BISTU won “Outstanding Award” as an organization for the second time, ranking 11th among Beijing-based universities.

Term Sheets have been signed between BISTU and three other Beijing-based universities for the purpose of commercialization of relating projects participating in the competition. More efforts would be invested in academic subject competitions and enhancement of talent cultivation quality.

About the Project: it is aimed at providing viable solutions to defecation and urination care for bedridden patients. With internet-based algorithm of human poses and self-adaptive metamorphic mechanisms, the machine can be intelligently adjusted and automatically cleaned. Processing deficiency is raised by 150% with workload being reduced and complicated demands being met.

About the project: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally. More than 330 million people in the world are suffering from CVDs and more than 1.7 million medical surgeries are conducted each year. Only less than 3% of high-end medical equipments in this field are domestically manufactured. The team provides high-accuracy multi-core fiber grating and sensor demodulation technology, which offer successful solutions to “confirmation of relative position” and “accuracy in the degree of touch”, two current global challenges. Animal testings have been conducted in cooperation with Anzhen Hospital with satisfactory results.

About the project: It offers solution to machine vision-based and AI-based picking and pests and diseases inspection in tomato fields, under the context of rural revitalization and automation of intelligent agriculture. Real-time camera head surveillance, coupled with deep learning technology, enables the ripeness of fruits and pests and diseases to be detected and identified in an accurate manner. A most-appropriate treatment plan then will be generated based on big-data database and GPT.
