Beijing, 4th January 2023 (BISTU)--- BISTU delegation headed by President Wang Yongsheng visited Xiongan New Area on 4th January 2023 to explore cooperation between the University and local government. Zhang Guohua, Standing Committee Member of CPC Hebei Province Committee and Vice Governor of Hebei Province, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Xiongan New Area, met with Wang Yongsheng and delegation members. The meeting was attended by Tian Jinchang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Working Committee, Vice Director General of the Administrative Committee of the Xiongan New Area and Party Secretary and President of China Xiongan Group, and Vice Director General Ma Qinghong of the Administrative Committee of the Xiongan New Area (BISTU Vice President). 

Zhang Guohua extended warmest welcome to Wang Yongsheng and delegation members and expressed thanks to BISTU for the support received. Zhang Guohua pointed out that Xiongan New Area was now on an important stage of phasing out non-capital functions and carrying out large-scale constructions. BISTU Vice President Ma Qinghong came to Xiongan and has made positive contributions. It was hoped that the advantage of BISTU in academic research and talents would be brought into fully play to provide support with building Xiongan New Area into a model city of “indescribably wonderfulness” and a “desired destination for all”.  

Following an introduction to BISTU in respect of historical development, educational features, and current progresses, Wang Yongsheng expressed that planning and construction of Xiongan New Area was a millennium plan and a key event of our nation. It was a compelling obligation for the University to provide sound and high quality service with construction and development of Xiongan New Area. Survey conducted by BISTU delegation offered a precious opportunity to learn more about planning and progresses with Xiongan New Area, which was truly inspiring and heartening. The University would bring its strengths in information technology into full play and integrate possible resources to actively make contributions to construction and development of Xiongan New Area in respect of science and technology innovation, talent cultivation, and in-depth industry-university-research collaboration.  

Tian Jinchang offered an introduction to establishment and development of Xiongan New Area. He said that BISTU has been playing a very important role in construction of the New Area. The University, with its fine tradition in education and distinctive feature in information technology, has provided generous support with Xiongan New Area. It was expected that both parties would deepen collaboration, expand room of cooperation, and jointly bring key national strategies into practice.  

Wang Yongsheng and delegation members conducted survey on holistic planning, city governance, smart city construction, ecological environment protection, etc. in a number of sites and places, including the Display Center for Xiongan Planning, Yuerong Park, Rongdong City Operations Center, Integrated Service Center, construction site of Smart City Industrial Part of China Telecom, the construction site of Central Green Valley, construction site of underground pipe gallery, Baiyangdian, etc.  

The meeting and survey was also attended by Director Wang Jiping of the Office of Party and Government Affairs of Xiongan New Area and BISTU faculties, including Vice President Yu Shijie, Vice President Chen Xin, Vice President Ye Xiangzhong, Director Li Huatao of Organizational Department, as well as directors or deputy directors of the Bureau of Public Services of Xiongan New Area, BISTU General Administration Office, BISTU New Campus Construction Office, etc.
