Beijing, 5th November 2024 (BISTU)--- The awarding ceremony of 2024 Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition & National Innovation Competition of Industrial Engineering and Lean Management held in Tianjin on 3rd November 2024 witnessed the undergraduate team (Li Xia, Wang Yiqi, Wang Yiru, Yuan Rubin, Fang Xiao Yi and supervised by Li Yongfan) of School of Management Science and Engineering hit a record high: a national second prize with their project “Exploring productivity improvement on the production line of Lamp LED devices of Company J”.

Sponsored by Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition is a high-level competition included in the competition catalogue published by China Association of Higher Education. It is also listed as an A2 level competition at BISTU. National Innovation Competition of Industrial Engineering and Lean Management, a session of the Competition, was established in 2017.

Centering on “Digital and intelligent integration in joint value creation”, the Competition attracted teams from around one thousand universities, including Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, etc. Teams were required to submit innovation plans and defend their plans about themes concerning industrial engineering and lean management.

School of Management Science and Engineering has attached great importance to the Competitions. Altogether 4 out of 10 teams that entered the regional competition have won third prizes. And one of the 4 teams, with their outstanding performance and preeminent hands-on skills, finally became a winner of national second prize.

School of Management Science and Engineering has been exploring new educational models combining academic subject competitions with talent cultivation to bring the role of academic subject competitions into full play in learning and teaching. It is expected to facilitate reform of talent cultivation models so as to nurture innovative talents for future high-quality development strategy.
