Beijing, 7th June 2023 (BISTU)--- BISTU delegation headed by Vice President Wang Xingfen and Vice President Xiao Zhisong visited Beihang University on 6th June 2023 and met with Assistant to VP Zhao Weisheng (Executive Vice Dean of Postgraduate School), directors of Academic Affairs Office, Postgraduate School, Financial Planning Department, University Youth League Committee, Engineering Training Center, and School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Beihang University. BISTU delegation members included directors and deans of Academic Affairs Office, Postgraduate School, School of Electromechanical Engineering, and Engineering Training Center.  

BISTU delegation visited the Coordinated Innovation Center of Science and Technology in New Generation Whole-digital Aircraft to conduct survey on cross-disciplinary software platforms and experience simulated aviation. The the delegation visited traditional field-practice workshops and various innovative labs of Engineering Training Center to explore issues concerning general education curricula, shared engineering and talent cultivation.  

Meeting and discussions were held after the visits. Zhao Weisheng and Director Qian Zheng of Academic Affairs Office of Beihang University shared experiences and practices of Beihang University in respect of high level academic disciplines, programs for professional degrees, integrated education for undergraduate and postgraduate students, teaching reform, industry-teaching integration, and academic subject competitions. 

Following the gratitude to Beihang University for the warm reception, Wang Xingfen said that Beihang had valuable experiences in academic discipline construction and reform of talent cultivation. It was now a crucial stage for a new round of filing applications for approval of doctoral programs. Experiences and practices of Beihang provided valuable reference in these aspects. BISTU would broaden working horizon and highlight features of academic disciplines to enhance the quality of talent cultivation. 

Xiao Zhisong extended thanks to support and sound arrangements of Beihang University and spoke highly of the strong engineering practice atmosphere of Engineering Training Center and the model of sharing open resources in teaching. He hoped that the two institutions would keep close ties, strengthen exchange and communication and make full use of Shahe League of Universities to achieve resources sharing in a broader spectrum of fields.
