Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu carefully examined fire control and prevention measures at Halls of Residence, reviewed rules of fire safety, and checked implementation of emergency plans of evacuation. Detailed inspection was conducted on whether fire lanes were clear, whether fire exits were accessible, whether fire signs were identifiable, whether fire fighting devices were in good condition, etc. They also reviewed the reports on fire control delivered by Logistics Management Department, Postgraduate Office, and Students Affairs Office. Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu requested that related staff members must be aware of the important implications of fire safety and give priority to the life and health of students. Hidden dangers should be identified and removed in a timely manner to keep halls of residences safe from fire hazards.

Inspection was also conducted at the University Canteen where Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu reviewed reports delivered by Logistics Management Department. Canteens were a key place of attention when speaking of fire control. We should seriously learn from lessons of various fire hazards. Safety production procedures at the canteens should be regulated and strictly followed. Emergency plans should be ready. And they stressed that all canteens should keep running during winter holiday in a safe, orderly manner to provide better services with students.

Office of Safety and Security delivered a report on fire control to Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu at the Monitoring Room. They emphasized that functions of intelligent electronic systems should be constantly upgraded and expanded so that we would be able to empower campus safety by digital and information means.

Then Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu inspected the in-construction area of the library and reviewed a report delivered by Office of New Campus Construction. Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu reiterated that safety in production was the fundamental requirement of all matters. We should be on guard at every moment and then we were to ensure the quality and progress of the library construction.

Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu extended thanks to staff members who stayed on post during winter holiday. They specially pointed out that the Spring Festival was coming closer and we should do our best to provide better services under the grand context of building a ”year-round university”. All second-tier units of the University should enhance their political awareness, seriously implement the requirements of supervising institutions on fire safety, strengthen the awareness of risk prevention, and constantly enhance their level and competence in safety management. Prevention is always better than cure. Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu said.

The inspection was joined by Vice President Ye Xiangzhong and directors of General Administration Office, Students Affairs Office, Laboratory Management Office, Logistics Management Department, New Campus Construction Office, and Office for Safety and Security.
