Flavor Convergence @ Generation Z: BISTU Celebrates Grand Opening of Gourmet Culture Festival

Beijing, 11th December 2023 (BISTU)--- The winter of 2023 saw Shahe Campus of BISTU full of laughter and delicious foods of various kinds--- BISTU Gourmet Culture Festival themed on Flavor Convergence @ Generation Z, guided by Food Commission of Logistics Research Committee of Beijing Association of Higher Education and sponsored by BISTU, welcomed its opening ceremony on 11th December 2023. The Festival accommodated gourmets from 13 universities, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, etc., and 17 enterprises and food suppliers. The Opening Ceremony was attended by Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee and President Guo Fu and was chaired by Vice President Ye Xiangzhong.  

 

 

Aiming at perfecting the thematic education, facilitating the principles of diligence and honor, and improving the quality of logistic service, the Festival laid focus on Flavor Convergence @ Generation Z and highlighted features like gourmet culture, interactive experiences, intelligent catering, and special care for BISTUers in sections like gourmet seminars, on-site teaching of pastry as intangible cultural heritage, science and technology empowering intelligent catering, free gourmet foods for you, etc.  

 

 

Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu expressed that BISTU Gourmet Culture Festival offered opportunities and platforms for faculties and students to share gourmet culture and enriching experiences in this regard. It also inspired students to explore cultural inheritance and innovation and then they would build up a greater, brighter future with a broad horizon, pioneering spirit, and an open mind.  

 

 

 

 

 

  

Gourmet foods provided by the 30 providers attracted attentions of students and faculties. Various foods were served, including kebab, pizza, sugarcoated fruits on sticks, spaghetti, and handmade drinks. A voting session was set for faculties and students to express their opinions on quality and taste of foods. The most popular foods would possibly be introduced into BISTU as part of logistic service on campus.  

 

 

 

On-site making of pastries was performed 2:30pm by Zhang Lihua, an inheritor of Chinese-style pictographic pastries. Students and faculties were amazed at the art and culture in making these pictographic pastries. On interactive session they again personally felt the charm of gourmet culture. A seminar then was held by General Xu Yong of Corporate Planning of Beijing Jinfeng Restaurant Group (a student of Song Zigang, the renowned master of Chinese cuisine) centering on studies of royal foods and services provided with Beijing 2022 Olympics and Paralympics.  

The Festival would last two days with oncoming events like table manners and characteristics of western-style meals and intelligent catering empowered by science and technology. It would display and explain frying robots, intelligent ovens and toasters, meals on robot wheels, etc. As of now, two canteens at Shahe Campus have introduced over 50 kinds of foods, inclusive of Chinese-style and western-style meals, in addition to two supermarkets and service providers in respect of coffee, dry cleaning, haircut, etc. With firm leadership of CPC BISTU Committee and thorough preparation of Department of Logistics Management, the Gourmet Culture Festival was finally presented to all faculties and students with delicious foods, food culture, and innovative spirit.  

The opening ceremony was also attended by Director Wang Cheng of Center for Logistic Management and Infrastructure for Beijing-based Schools of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Director Zu Zhanliang of Food Commission of Logistics Research Committee of Beijing Association of Higher Education, and Director Zhang Yang of Logistics Office of Center for Logistic Management and Infrastructure for Beijing-based Schools of Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
